New Rider - Slip on pipes Need Dyno ??
« on: November 19, 2005, 07:09:34 PM »

I'm a new rider bought an 05 Screamin Eagle Electraglide2 Put on V/ H slip on's sounds great, but don't seem to have the Power I think it should have, and it seems to run really hot. Does it need to be put on the Dyno and maybe a Power commander, need help. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

You should use either a Power Commander or a Race Tuner. When switching to a free flowing exhaust your air/fuel ratios will be all out of whack. You may be able to find a map that already exists for your set up then you won't need to dyno tune, if not then you will neeed a custom map.

Bet you get some popping on decel as well?

SE is correct, you are probably running lean which is causing the higher running temp. Did you do the air box as well? If not you should! I would not run the bike until you get the PCIII or race tuner. another less expensive option is the stage one download from HD. This is a generic map that will richen up the feul mixture. i would not do this myself as it is not specific for the setup you have. In my opinion the best bet for the do it yourselfer would be the PCIII, you can get a map from the Power commander website that will be very close. You can still take it in for a Dyno after if you want to get everything possible out of it.

Be sure to keep us informed of your progress.

PS; Welcome to the site. There's a bunch of great info and people here!

iselbulls,

Welcome to the site,

I agree with both sefatboy & hd dude, they are giving you great advice that more than likely your scooter is running lean.

I prefer to find a really good tuner and go with his suggestion on PC III or SERT and have him Dyno your bike to make her scream.

What a feeling to ride a scooter that has no dead spots in the throttle,

Is your dealer the Best Tuner around the area?
Might not hurt to chat with a few local riders and ask how the Tuner did on their scoots.
My believe is the Tuner is the big key on getting your bike to Scream
Just a thought

I agree wtih Jeff. The guy who tuned my bike is named Eric at Carolina H-D. He worked under Don Tiley for quite some time.

Thanks again,
I live in the Modesto area in Central Calif. I bought it from Mitchell's H-D I've asked a couple of guys and they say that they are pretty good. Hope for the best, I surely will keep all of you informed. If you ever need help with a Cow or Cattle just call I know Cow's just not much about Bikes.
Thanks again  Don

Modest HD is a good place to get the bike tuned.   That's where Gary Anderson gets his bikes tuned at.  He's spent a fortune on his bikes but here's a link to one of his dyno sheets.........
http://www.bcheads.com/images/dyno-gary.gif   He tells me that Modesto is about the best in the area.

Don,

Yeah I had my 03 SE RK tuned by Jack Perndergrass at Mitchell's in Modesto, he is really good.
I already had a SERT installed but I think Jack prefers PC III

Jack will Hook you UP - It will Scream

Welcome Don. Mitchell's is fine, and they have a good reputation. There's always a trip up to Reno before the snow sets in the passes, and get to Freedom Cycle up there. We're working on a Calif CVO run here sometime, maybe wine country and do Hwy 49 end to end, or something suitably stressful :-) BTW it's not the color that counts, but the red CVO ride is sure a pretty choice.

He is new to the board and already knows the most important things.

1.  Great People
2.  Great Transfer of information
3.  Reds are Faster :)

Sounds like an old Milwaukee Commercial .... don't get any better than this.
