Another Patriot Guard Welcome Home Mission
« on: July 04, 2009, 12:27:34 AM »

Yesterday, my wife and I did another "welcome home" mission.  This one was for an Army Calveryman returning from Afghanistan.  It turned out that there was actually 4 soldiers on the plane, so we welcomed them home as well.  Once the airport welcome was complete, we escorted him and his family home.  2 PGR bikes, 1 with the American Flag the other with the PGR Flag led, followed by the family, then the 18 bikes, about half flying the American Flag as well.  Going down the freeway, a lot of cars were honking and waving, etc.  It was yet another incredible PGR feeling!  As this was my wife's first PGR ride, she put together a little picture card...

Everyone have a fun, safe July 4th, and remember to thank our servicemen and women!

I've been a Patriot Guard member for a couple of years now.  It is something that I encourage everyone to do.  Everyone wins.  The soldiers feel appreciated, and you get to feel really great about doing something for them.

Good Job Ernie :2vrolijk_21:

Do you have to be a member of Patriot Guard to ride with you? Do you have to be a vet to be a member?

You do NOT have to be a vet or a member.  It's all about our soldiers and everyone is welcome.  If you did want to sign up, just go to www.patriotguard.org.  It's free.

My wife and I also belong the to the PGR, welcome home missions are the greatest, the funerals are tough. The pride it gives us as Americans is indescribable. As we say " If you don't stand behind our boys in the military, then go stand in front of them"

Nicely done Ernie!

I just registered at the Fl PGR web site last week and am waiting for group info on how to participate in future homecomings etc.

As an Air Force veteran of 26 years and a contractor on Barksdale AFB for 14 I know what it means to our service men and women to have a “welcome home”.  Thank you for supporting our troops - vtyanqui
