With only the one tail light, I want to add a little more lighting on the tail of my 2007 SEUC- but not a major tear down and wiring exercise.  Has anyone tried the S.O.M.A. light strips with the license plate bracket?  Will they fit with a stock license bracket?   Has anyone found an LED licence plate cover that fits given the zero clearance between the top of the plate and the bottom of the tour pak?

I added the HD Led tail light and saddle bag led spoilers, Made a big difference and still looks clean. My .02

Many with the pleather tourpak have added an led strip on the rear.  Most chose to put it in the pak itself.  We chose to put ours on the support bar under the pak.   It's well hidden, yet easily visible from the rear.  If the person behind you is close enough to obscure it there, then they can't see any other rear light either.  The connection for the tail/brake light is in the tourpak and there's extra holes in the bottom to run the wires out.  Easy to install and remove.

I use the HOGLITES.com tail brake light. It is very easy to mount and connect using the existing harness in the tourpak.
I purchased mine on eBay, don't know if they are still available but worth a look. You can also deal direct with web site.

Tell us how you really feel  HD is usually on the tail end of change. Most of it good, some of it not. Most of us like the looks, some will not. But change is inevitable.

I didn't notice before, but it looks like there is no taillamp on the Street Glide, Standard or CVO model.  I like the looks of the CVO model rear end, but it does look like you may need to add a taillamp if you want extra lighting.  As far as the fat rear tire goes, I don't think you are going to win too many arguments complaining about the rear tire.  I pretty much think that most people like that.  If you don't like the rear setup (lights and rear tire), I don't know why you didn't just save yourself some money and buy a low mileage 08 model.  I think the wider rear tire goes hand in hand with the new frame design.  Also, when you are complaining about the price of the tire, I personally thought it was a bargain, since I would probably be on my third tire, or very close to it with over 15,000 miles on my bike, yet I'm only on my 2nd tire and it's still like brand new.  I switched out my rear at just over 11,000 miles and I could have probably gotten another 1500 to 2000 miles out of it, but I didn't want to take a chance of hitting rain on a long trip, so I changed mine a bit early.  I normally got about 5000 miles out of my rear tire on my last Harley and the most I got was stretching one to 7000 miles.  So, at least from my perspective, the small price difference is well worth the extra mileage you get from these tires.  Obviously, some won't get quite so many miles, but I'd guess that most are getting more miles than they did with the thinner tires.

Back to the taillamp, I assume you purchased a Street Glide, Std or CVO, and if you are considering adding a tourpack, that may be a good place to add some lighting to the rear.  I know, I know.  Even if you do add a tourpack, you probably won't have it on there all the time.  Just a thought.  I do agree that there should be some sort of taillamp on the fender, but like you said, the MOCO is leaving that customizing up to you, the consumer.  Here's your chance to have a one of a kind.

Actually, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the brightness of the twin LED strips on the back of the SESG.  A tail light isn't really needed.  My wife rode behind me and said that the rear end of the SESG is nicely lit up with those two strips.

If those are the same lights that were on the 09 SERG, and they appear to be, I followed hdbrad03 from Pittsburgh to York earlier this year and I remember how distinctly those rear lights showed up.  I guess I never even noticed that there wasn't a taillamp on the fender on that bike either.  Those lights are pretty tall and bright and they do a fine job, even in the daylight.  In fact, he was in front, then his wife, and me in 3rd position, and still his lights stood out.  I often find that I don't think the lights on the bike directly in front of me stand out enough.  For me to take notice and still have it embedded in my memory that the lights on that bike jumped out at me, being 2 bikes ahead of me, then they must do a pretty decent job.

I am so glad HD didn't take his advise and leave the old taillamp on the fender of my SERG, and thank the lord they finally added a tire large enough for the bike.
We all have opinions, but a 130 tire is no longer good enough.
