Tail of the Dragon Speeding Fines
« on: July 11, 2009, 10:41:23 PM »

While at a Patriot Guard ride today, the topic of conversation turned to the Dragon.

Word on the street is that in order to cut down on crashes, the police have increased speding fines to $1,500!

Any truth to this?

Rumors only, in fact, the LEO's loosened their stance. if you're speeding and get caught, shame on you, but the over-the-top patrolling and stupid tickets have lessened. Couple years ago it was bad, but now not so much.
July 4th was not crowded at all but past that has been busy. 2 Fatalities so far this year with several wrecks that got life-flighted out. that is one expensive helicopter ride for sure. Both fatalities involved HD riders. one woman, one man who had a heart attack.

I guess they could use a 'timed' approach and if you finish the measured distance too quickly, charge you at the finish.  Don't know if this is true, but heard that some toll roads have used this with to ticket people at end of toll road.  spyder
