I live in Michigan and the fellas and I took the Badger over to WI then north to the U.P. rode highway 2 to the bridge and then back down.  I just took the car to Marquette due to the wife being with child and that was an awesome trip along Lake Superior.  Any questions feel free to PM me

I've made that trip... ALL the Great Lakes!!!  It's a fantastic ride!  Beautiful scenery and lots of interesting stops.

Just the trip around Lake Superior is a great ride too, just a bit shorter...  (Or the ride around Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, which also is a great ride...especially for someone from Chicago..)

I made the trip several times when I was young, yes I was young once, in the back seat of my dads Ford Falcon. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago so anything was a change. Thats how we vacationed, visited family in Wisc, the UP, and by Lake Huron, was a great Memory. When my wife and I left Milw, last summer, we Headed north and made the trip again. was on Mackinaw Bridge at Sunset, beautiful. Just don't go downtown Detroit, stay on the Interstate, or do like we did, lock & load.

Traveling along Lake Superior in the UP is an awesome ride.  I recommend that you stop in a small town called Big Bay, MI.  The Hotel used to be Henry Ford's hunting lodge and is filled with history.  You can also feast on Whitefish caught from Lake Superior the same day and draft beer is .75 per glass.  At least it was last summer.

What would be the appropriate amount of days to schedule? I am used to riding 700 or more a day, but this seems like something yo might take a slightly slower pace. How many miles a day did you do and how many days? Recemendations for great places along the way? Hotels, restaurants, sites, etc?

If you are going into the Houghton Hancock area I really liked The Liabrary.  In Sault Ste. Marie there are several biker friendly bars and Restaurants. My favorite is The Palace, they have great Mexican food. There are several mom and pop restaurants along the way and some of the bigger towns/cities have the normal found at home restaurants.
