I have found a orange 00 SERG for sale with 20k miles. I am going to see the bike this Friday. If the bike is in the condition the owner said (showroom) what should the price range be? I have not been in the loop on cvo models. Not sure if kbb prices are close. I know the bike is 10 yrs old now. I have not found any 00 models for sale to compare prices.

What should I look for when I inspect the bike Friday? Were their many problems that year for the cvo road glides? It looks like there is a 2-1 pipe. I would rather have a mostly stock cvo model.

Nice bike...

OE exhaust was duals with fishtail endcaps.

M&M FI can be bothersome if it has issues, but other than that my friends bike now has 80K abd the only real issue is the paint peeling off the front fender

NADA Book: Retail: 12540 Trade:10895, No Factory Exhaust (Fishtails), 20 K miles,  you are going to need  to at  least look at the cam chain tensioners.  My old triple red the shoes were junk at 16K, had to change them... early  shoes were junk, replacements are good. See if he has the cover...Very hard to find. M&M injection is  a challenge to tune, very few know how to really tune an M&M right All in all with market conditions the way they are... 10k-11k..   Greg

Bike is at a jap dealer. They said if bike does not sell within a week, they are selling it to the local HD dealer. Price is advertised at $11.5k
Looks like the rear floor boards have been removed also.

Cheep date in the CVO world. I'd go for it. Everything is fixable. If you need to explore the mill you can add cams ect. Good luck and remember it is collectable.

Highwaystar, that is exactly what I was thinking. I want to keep my 05 FLSTCI, and the only way I can afford a cvo is to buy one 10 yrs old. I was not out looking for a cvo bike, just a good used touring bike.
Not many 00 SERG for sale to compare to, but this seems to be a good price. If bike is in showroom condition like he said, maybe I can buy for $10.5. That would be a deal for a cvo touring bike with 20k miles.

If you can get it for 10.5 you're getting a hell of a deal. I would take it for a ride first though. The 00s were/are great bikes.

My friend has one he bought new.  Checked the cam tensioners at 50K+ and they weren't worn out yet---he's lucky.  bike runs really well and he's left it bone stock except for exhaust.  I'd gladly give $10-11K for it with 20K miles.

I mean the cover that came with the bike PN # 91688-00  Mfg  by Dowco, Damn hard to find...Ask Chip...  HD Dealer is going to  offer them " trade price or less...so don't buy that BS they can get more from a dealer story...IF you can..show up with your check book in hand and close on the spot..    10.5 is a good number, I'd offer 10K and settle ot around 10.5. still plan on getting the tensioners at least checked, shouldn't cost more than an hour or two labor, then you know....

SE Road Kings and SE Road Glides, at least the '07 and newer, do NOT come with rear passenger running boards, just the matching rear pegs.  If you're wanting to upgrade to the adjustable running boards they will set you back over $600 for the setup.  You may not be able to get matching inserts now for the bike and you might have to use a later pattern to get it all to match.

Sounds like a good price.

Brown,  You might want to send a PM to grandpadoc.  He rides a beautiful 2000 SERG and loves it.  He even tows a trailer with it.  I'll bet he can anwer any questions you may have.  Good luck.

"The paint is in great condition, and so is the bike. the radio work as it should and so do all the other accessories. This is a Carburated bike with Mikuni smooth bore spec. The bike has never kissed the tarmac and its a one owner bike. Hope that answers your questions, when would you like to come see this bike? Hope to earn your business in the near future".

He has since replied back "sorry, yes it is fuel injected". Well, it is a bmw motorcycle dealer selling a HD.

It should be fuel injected.  All the classic SERGs were as they came from the factory.  It's not the newer Delphi FI system but the Magnetti Marelli system Harley used from 1995-2001 (think that's right). 

Some don't care for the Marelli systems.  They can be a bit tempermental in the care of unfamiliar hands.  But they can be made to run just fine.  If one gets too quirky there are options beyond fighting it though.  Switching to a carb is not uncommon on the Marelli bikes anymore and parts are readily available for the swap.  Parts to modernize the FI system are also out there if one has a itch to tackle it that way.

These are great bikes.  The look is unmistakeable and outstanding.  Best wishes on you and it becoming fast friends for many miles.

I'm waiting for my buddy to give his up.. Married with a baby... he doesnt ride any more. 80K and the bike is still in good shape. Just did cam bearings and Cams at 75K... was his daily ride for a long time... then he found something else he liked...
