I'm 6' 6' 290 and also have a bad back I ordered a back rest when my CVORG came in, I ordered the back rest that matches the CVORG look it's narrow one and that was a mistake I just made a 1000 mile run and by the time I got home I had trouble walking that back rest sucks. If your going to get one I would go with one of the wider ones they  have for better support the small one I have looks good but not good for long trips.

If you think that it's possible that adjusting the backrest to a different position may help, there is a more obscure method of adjusting it other than the normal 3 types of adjustment: height, bolt hole location under seat, and screw adjustment on the back of the rest.  There is a thread out there that helped me with the 4th adjustment that's easy to do and did the trick for me.  If it's positioned well for you and it still didn't help, then the additional adjustment may not help.  Let me know here or by private message and I'll see if I can find the thread with photo illustrations to help you, if you think a little tweaking may help you.

I love my SERG and think its the coolest chit around but I get a sore back in 5 miles of riding, I am 6'1 and 220, I have moved the handle bars down and that was worse, moved them higher and it helped as I am not slouching as much. I just seem to slouch while riding and lean ahead too much, cannot determine if it the seat or handlebar position yet, seems like I need to sit back farther. Any suggestions, has anyone else had this and what did you change?  thanks,  Scott

6-3, ... Went to a  Tall boy seat , backrest. problem solved. I had a sundowner on mine first  becasue that was the only seat they made for it last year. Sundowner will move you up, still have it , if you are interested

Check this thread.  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=30774.15  Start with reply #16 from Guppytrash.  He shows photos of what he did.  I followed his instructions, however I did not cut off anything on my bracket like he did.  What this does is change the angle of the backrest to fit some of us better.  It's amazing how that little bit of change at the bracket mount changes the angle of the backrest.  It changes the angle a lot more than you would expect.  I don't know if that will be any help to you or not, but at least it's one more thing that you can try before spending more money for a new backrest.

Yes a very easy fix, if you like the seat get a back rest, and change those bars to the Wild one's I believe I have the 513's.

I agree with all of the posts about a rider backrest. I'm 6'4" and 280lbs and the backrest makes a big difference. You'll find that the pressure is taken off of your shoulders and back and allow you to relax a little. I ride an '05 Ultra and the other improvement was Wild 1 bars. They're taller and wider and in my opinion the best looking chrome bars you can get. Internal wiring really cleans it up. I also switched to a Corbin Dual Tour saddle which moved me back and down.
