help help help with tires
« on: July 20, 2009, 01:17:49 PM »

well i had the stock dunlops on and they only last 6700 miles.
so i decided to switch to metzlers which i use on all my bikes.
well when i put them on the bike handling went out the door. it was full on scary.
felt like th bike was riding on marbles.
i went back right away and the tire guy put on avons which were better but still had a slight wobble at 80 to 90 made the bike grab in strange ways on grooves
are the dunlops the only tire you can run on this bike.
if so that seems crazy.
please help with any stories you guys mite have

Could it be a radial versus bias ply issue, I dunno...

No I havent but my Oldster with bias tubes feel like its riding with marshmallow in the tires..The radials on my 09 are much better.
My 06 has tubed bias and are a little mushy not too bad but again compared to the radial belt, worlds apart.

Sorry to hear about these issues.  I am not a fan of Metzlers.  I put them on my Dyna and had the same feeling.  They were ok when it was dry but when it was damp out.....  Friggin hang on!

Did you have the 407 or 408 Dunlops?  I have the stocks and have not had any issues - run the max recommended pressure on the tires and shocks.  No vibrations for me either.

i dont have any problem with the stock dunlops. what i am saying is when i changed the tires
to a diff brand like metzlers the bike totally became unridable
tire pressure was perfect.

Sorry Junkie, I thought since you only got 6,700 miles out of the Dunlops, you didn't like them.  I got almost 11,000 out of my Dunlops on my 08 RK that I traded in on this SERG.
