Miami to deals gap
« on: July 24, 2009, 01:24:34 AM »

Well I put 2300 miles in 4 1/2 days. We left for deals gap Sunday afternoon and made it there by Monday afternoon. I left this morning thinking the return would take just as long.

When I was halfway home i realized I was comfortable enough to ride all 850 miles back in one day. In fact I actually ended up riding 925 miles today plus what I rode last night adding up to more than a 1000 in 24hrs. I had 2-3 more hours left in me.

My 09 SERG behaved great. No problems at all.  My PCV map was great even at 5000 feet elevation and I felt no power loss. I did scrape everywhere and at time began to miss my ducati hypermotard.

I just got back and I'm beat. I'll give more details later. This area has the best riding I've ever seen including sturgis.

Blood Mountain rocks!  I'll be riding up to Deal's Gap next weekend.  Don't forget to look for your photos online and post them.  Go to www.dealsgap.com to see all three photographers that take photos of the Dragon.

Zee Foto got some nice photos, one even has a few sparks :2vrolijk_21:

I did ride 129 and it was great. My favorite was the Ocheola Skyway or Parkway, great curves and we had it all to ourselves. We only saw 3 or 4 other vehicles the whole route. Actually ALL the roads are awesome.

Im thinking about leaving a motorcycle up there and flying in once a month. I have to work weekends but I can easily go up once a month mon-fri. Im already planning the next trip.

900 miles a day.    :2vrolijk_09:

Thats hardcore,  that'd be hard on me and I consider myself a pretty tough rider.

I've done real well with the 5hr. Haven't been hearing good things about Red Bull lately. I'm really going try to make that trip this week.

Sounds like you had a good trip.

I have done that many miles and once you get off the bike your still riding down the highway.

It's all good though, just takes a few hours to unwind....  :jalapeno: :cucumber: :pepper: :2vrolijk_21:

Must have been fun!! No chance to get
such mileage in a such a short time over
here! Too much traffic, less space, small
country.  :bananarock:
