Cruise control set at speeds over 90 mph?
« on: July 24, 2009, 11:38:14 AM »

The cruise control on my 08 SE Ultra will not lock in at anything over 90 mph.  It will set at any speed up to 89, but if I push the accelerate button to bump the speed up from 89, the cruise shuts off.

I know someone is going to say I should not be driving that fast or if I do I should not have the cruise set.  I use the cruise all the time because my back was broken in 1972 and I have nerve damage in my hands.  Every 5 or 10 minutes I need to be able to shake out my hands to keep them functioning.

I checked with the local Harley shop and they say no adjustment.  Does anyone know if there really is or is not an adjustment?

Thanks,

Bob

Nope.  It has a max speed at which it will engage.  That's it.  You'll just have to keep both hands on the bars over 90....

More then likely for liability reasons the MoCo will not allow a cruise controlled speed above 89mph. :nixweiss:

And for reasons of aerodynamic instability induced by wave distortion emanating from the rear they suggest against tour pak hinges on orange bikes.

This is a product that I purchased off of ebay a few months ago - on long rides my left shoulder/neck muscle would hurt and I would occassionaly have to take my right hand off of the throttle to open and close my hand from the muscles tightening up.

It cost me $20 bucks  for a right and left including shipping so I thought it was worth a try.  It works - the description says it lets us relax our grip we use our palms to apply the pressure.  They look pretty good on the bike - although they make such a difference even if they were ugly I would probally still use them - ok if they were ugly I would probally have them chromed and use them  ;D

Here is there website     www.throttlerocker.com

My bike is in the shop getting Heat Demons I should have it back this afternoon and I will take a picture if you would like.

Hope this helps you :2vrolijk_21: Tracy

Bob, with the new product releases with tomorrow's dealer meeting the pool boy has advised there will be a:

Screamin' Eagletm Cruise Control Max Speed Release Kit

Comes from an OE called "Wo Nelly" and is intended for:

"Riders who prefer the option of setting the cruise option while
traveling on the high side of 100 mph so as to rest hands and
                       shoulders at higher speeds."

The kit is $2400.35 and, seemingly oddly, includes a certificate to cover dental fees.  Total package is an ECM download to remove the top end limit, a halter to attach to the handlebars and the aforementioned dentist's installation of a bit for your teeth to grip the halter.

Same on automobiles as well.  Sort of makes one wonder if there isn't some nefarious regulation involved.

If you had them installed, you would know it's "SHINY CHROME Billet Tour Pak Hinges"....

What I can't figure out is how you've managed to spend so much time with Chip lately - and still don't have them installed     :nixweiss:
