The 2009 O/B SERG ($45,000+) at Kanes in Kelowna was still not sold as of Aug 6th when I was there.

Did the $45k include GST?

I bought a 2009 CVO Road Glide from Trev Deeley in Vancouver, B.C. and took delivery 1st week of June. Including the lower fairings with glove boxes, tour pak with hog tunes, fairing hog tunes and amplifier, hidden Dakota Digital antennae, Rineharts, and spoilers with LED's for the three lids it was out the door for just over $54,000.  Every dealer installed componet I have had grief with.

-Wash the bike and the tour pak spoiler LED's partially go out until they dry.  I guess I'm not supposed to ride in the rain.

-Bike was back three times for the hidden antennae and twice they told me that because I could not get AM signal, it was something I had to live with.   Third time back for this they told me I had to live with it again and I phoned Dakota myself from the dealership, got a techie, and finally after speaking with second more knowledgeable techie, found out they had a bad run of antennaes.  I guess the customer has to do his own troubleshooting.  New antennae installed and I have AM.

-Tour Pak lid has huge amount of overspray inside the lid.

-Tour Pak backrest could have been installed better by my daughter.  Back again to be installed properly.

-Left fairing lower glove box was loose on delivery and they tightened it but it was never right.  It almost came right out on trip to California.  Back again.

When I complained about their lousy service they told me not to come back.  THEY PUNTED ME after spending 50 grand on what is supposed to be the second best motorcycle they sell?  Telling me to investigate other options to fix my bike when all the extras they installed are only warrantied by them.

-Hog Tunes speaker went dead so because I was punted and not allowed to come back to Trev Deeley, I went to Bellingham, Washington Harley dealer and they fixed the front speakers as the connection had come loose!!  I guess so....considering how many times the fairing had been apart to tell me that having no AM was something I had to live with.  Cost me an hour's labour but well worth it. FANTASTIC DEALER IN BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON.

When I was getting a lift to pick up my bike I witnessed it having the crap run out of it on Boundary Road near the dealership.  They told me three things.  First he could have been in a hurry to get back to the dealership.  Second, they have to do this to ensure my safety.  Third they had to do a hard stop to check th ABS.  All of which I called a bunch of nonsense.

Bottom line is that new Harley president Keith Wendell should re-visit his arrangement having these Deeley Imports as the master distributor in Canada.  Every Harley and part coming into Canada, they get a chunk of.  These guys own the dealership and it is supposed to be the flag ship dealer in Canada for all to emulate???  I don't think so folks.

I'm not the only guy that has been punted after complaining about their crappy service department. I personally know of two others and I've been told that there are more.

I am going to do my best to never buy anything Harley in Canada ever again so that Deeley Imports gets nothing out of it.

So you guys in the States think you have problems.....come on up here to Deeley's for a wake up call.

The Harley Davidson Motor Company should all too well remember the AMF days, and how close the Motor Company came to joining Indian in the motorcycle manufacturers of America burial grounds.  History unfortunately has a history of repeating itself and hopefully recent Harley CEO Mr. Wandell will be able to circumvent any possibility of failure by focusing on customer service better that his exclusive Canadian importer's own flag ship dealership has.

They can't "punt" you on contractually obligated warranty service.  There's got to be a way to make their life miserable.

I think the reason that HD has and is sticking with Delley Imports (HD Canada) is due to the loyalty (yes strange in these days) that HD Corporate has for the originally founder Trev Deeley and now his family, which I still think still run Delley Imports. He was the first large HD Dealer in Canada and stuck out with HD through the rough years and worked on the NOVA Project years ago, their is still a NOVA Project Bike in the Delley Mueseum. If I am not mistaken Trev Delley was the only non American to sit on the HD Board of Directors before his death.

A lot of us in Canada thought that when Trev Deeley died that HD would have taken over distribution, hoewver that would have been very difficult to do.

Delley Imports should start looking after problems and complaints in Canada better than they do now, if a Canadian HD owner with a complaint phones the HD number in Milwaukee and identitifes the bike as Canadian he is automaticlly swithced to the Delley Complaints group in Canada and usually is forgotten about or ignored.

Twolanerrider:

They haven't heard from my lawyer yet but I have a continuous email trail ten pages long corroborating this entire issue.  I told them that they entered into a contract with me when they sold me the bike but until yesterday, when their Deeley problem solver/ombudsman from Toronto, Ontario called me, I don't think they really understood this.  This has potential to be a very serious test case for the treatment of Harley-Davidson customers in Canada.  I have a friend of a friend whom has had much the same scenario happen to him and he has asked me to put his name forward as a victim of this type of treatment.  There are others as well that I have been told about and it is really very encouraging that a number of guys have called me in support.

Geezerglider:

Don James and Malcolm Hunter own Trev Deeley Motorcycles and Deeley Imports; Don James sits on the board of Harley.  Loyalty is a tremendous obligation that requires reciprocal diligence and in my case there has been none.  The Motor Company certainly can't fix what they don't know is broken and I don't think Milwaukee is aware of what has gone on in Canada.  Ultimately it is Harley-Davidson to want to make a difference and if they choose to simply maintain the status quo, it will continue to be a distributor we Canadians will deal with rather than the manufacturer. If I have a problem with my General Motors product, I can always escalate to the GM zone office if the dealer is not looking after my needs.  I escalated to Milwaukee and they had a Toronto "ombudsman" from Toronto call me, an employee of their distributor Deeley Imports.  Perhaps I should buy a chunk of HD stock and ask to have the microphone at their annual general meeting.

That was "out the door' with all taxes, PDI, everything.  That was an increase of about $8000 more than what I paid last September.

If I was in the market for a new bike, I would definitely be waiting till Jan or Feb... If the CND$ stays strong and even goes higher as many suggest it will, there is no doubt that prices will come down at Canadian dealerships.

Someone who buys a bike today in Canada could loose 1,000's of $ and not put a mile on it in the next few months!

Remember 2004, 5 & 6?

I don't get how they charge so much more in Canada for their bikes, not to mention cars also.  Would it be cheaper to buy the bike in the US and pay taxes on it than to buy it in Canada?  Guys in the US are  picking up 09 CVO Fat Bobs new for 21 k and here they are 32 k + 13 % tax.

I have been buying cars, SUVs and two bikes from the US for years. The 2010 ULTRA Limited is the first bike I have bought in Alberta for many years.

With the CDN Dollar getting higher against the US $ (of course that can go the over way very quickly) it is a good bargain to buy in the US and export a vehicle into Canada. You can figure on an 16% - 20% adder on a US priced bike depending on what province you live in, example Alberta has no Provincial Sales Tax, other Provinces have an 6% - 8% tax.

When I was speaking with some of the dealers in Southern Alberta they said they are down 40% in sales from previous years. However their pricing is not reflective in that comment. Some are only putting out 2010 "Special Models" only, ULTRA Limiteds, CVOs, Street Glides, balance are 2009s which they have not sold.

..................For example .............. A 2010 US CVO Ultra sells for $35,999 south of the border. In Canada the exact same bike sells for $46,239. The bike would exchange for $39,495 CAD, a difference of $6744. The savings makes a trip south of the border well worth it. All you need is a US address to buy a new HD.

................

Today the exchange is now $37,525.36 CAD on the CVO Ultra............getting closer  :2vrolijk_21:

All you need is a US address to buy one at that price.

If you buy low mileage, used you don't require US address. The 04 B/B SEEG had only 1,500 miles when I bought it in Denver.
If you need to use an US address you can use mine.
