Best aftermarket seat for SERG
« on: July 28, 2009, 10:11:09 AM »

I am looking to change the seat on my 09 SERG.  Back is hurting, I know I can get a Driver Backrest, but it looks hideous on this bike with the stock seat.  I am looking for the best looking most comfortable seat that I can ride 2 up with.  I am not one who is gonna be a seat swapper either.  I know you cannot have the best of both worlds, but there should be one out there that is decent in both looks, and comfort for both myself and the wife.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

I cannot find what the Gambler does to your seating position vs stock?  Can it accept a drivers Backrest?

FInally got my CB 15" dark shield, and am really happy with it.  I am 6'3" 250 lbs.  I am so afraid that changing the seat position will ruin how good my shield is working right now.  The gambler looks like one of the nicest ones I have seen so far that is not too big though.  Just need to find out more about it from experience, not a salesman.

I went with the Sorrento by LePera an all day touring seat a bit more profiled compared to the Maverick, should be receiving it today. I have used LePera since I cut my ties with Corbin 5 years ago due to the poorest customer service known to man. If interested contact Christine of LePera. She will send out the padded seat pan for your approval.

I really like that LePera 2-up Silhouette but I dont know much about LePera and dont really hear alot about them.   Looks like cost is comparable to Corbin.

Desant89,

Have you seen this thread?  Corbin Gambler on 2009 SERG

You might want to send a pm to Smuuth.  I've ordered one like his but with some yellow piping to match my bike.  I like that the Corbin is longer, covers the mounting screw and locks.  They now come with a smaller label which you can have blaced out (but not deleted).  I'll have mine in 2-3 weeks and will post pics then.

To be honest LePera will definitely cost you more. With LePera you have the ability to create a seat nobody else has with regard to stitch patterns, colors of thread, leathers, etc. To me most importantly, there has never been a problem with the customer service at LePera. I am doing the Sorrento 100% leather, with the Santa Fe stitch pattern throughout with shark colored stitching. LePera unlike Corbin does not use piping around the seating area as one who rides, I have experienced the vinyl piping deteriorate on all my Corbin seats. If LePera were not in business Corbin would not be my choice, again, due to my negative experience with their "so-called" customer service.

So how does the LePera sit in reference to stock?    does it sit you down further?      Also,   is the LePera firm?    I tend to prefer a more firmer saddle than stock.

The LePera Sorrento as well as all their seats are made with high quality foam, thus, firmer than stock. The Sorrento and Maverick have the rider in a bit of a bucket which tends to add support to the lower back. Again, you can get the padded seat pan and go from their with any modifications you desire. As far as sitting down further, I don't see how any seat can sit you down further than stock, the bucket may give the illusion of being down further.

Call Sheri @ Danny Gray, They have the best workmanship of any of the aftermarket brands. You can change piping, stitching, add Gel, whatever you want and the mod's are cheap. The Big Seat and the large and extra large pillon pad are amazing quality, nothing looking this good EVER came out of Corbin, plus that stupid looking lock and chrome screws in the new Corbins are just not attractive.

fltrcvo,    you've bout got me convinced on a Lepara,   however,  you should post some pics of your saddle.  It would be a huge help.

I will once I receive it. However, before you jump talk to Christine LePera to put your mind at ease.
