Please check the tec doc!

I think I saw that the 2010 header pie has a new flange mount that may render the 09 header  a no go, do a search for the tec doc here, it is somewhere...

New spherical exhaust port pipe endform offers improved seal and fitment.  You may need to verify this, but it appears that they just made an improvement in how the pipe seals to the head, and 09 will probably still work with more opportunity for exhaust leakage.

The '09 header pipe will not work on any '10 touring bike as the placement of the O2 sensor bung has changed and the threads are different since the sensor has changed (smaller). My question is whether or not the '10 non-CVO 96" touring bikes with a 2:1:2 header have a catalytic converter inside of them? To date I have not been able to get a conclusive answer.

If it doesn't have a cc in the header than it's a potential option to use as a swap out on my 2010 CVO Ultra. If all 2010 touring bikes have gone to a CC header, then I'll need to send my header out for cc removal.

You got me there.  So much for my off the cuff answer.  It kind of sucks that our 09's are now a one of a kind exhaust also.  Hopefully it won't take as long for the aftermarket stuff to hit for the 2010's as it did for the 2009's.  I also hope that you find that the head pipes don't have the cat in the 96" models.  It's starting to sound like last year all over again.  If you want to make any immediate changes to the exhaust, it will be limited in choices once again.

I've been looking at the 2010 pipes and it looks pretty simple. if yours are the tappered then get some 09 4in cans and do the fullsac thing. take the head pipe and remove the C/C no biggy, get out the dremel, not you Dave, just keep it on the shelf

He's back!  My dremel is safe and secure in the garage.  I wish I could think of something I could ruin with it, but I'm packing to leave for the beach and leaving in the morning.  Maybe when I return.  I'm assuming you just returned from Sturgis and that we'll see something posted elsewhere with some details.

Never mind...I just looked and found the post from you.  It looks like you've been busy posting if you busted 2000 with that post and you're up to 2039 already today.  Good to have you back.

Update. I decided to send the headpipe to fullsac and have the cats removed.

Faced with exactly the same issue, I posted a couple of questions here. Based on all the good advice from Forum members, I'm going with the 2.0" Fullsacs on a new FLHXSE. Stock header. The bike will get a SERT and dyno tune before delivery. I will post torque/hp numbers when I get them. Anything near 95hp/95 ft.lbs. will make me happy.

The fullsacs are highly recommended here, and, if I end up with a new, full exhaust sometime down the road, not as pricey as tossing new mufflers away.

I put the Fullsac baffles.  Piece of cake.  I bought a Dremel with the flexible shaft attachment.  Use the #420 cutting wheels.  They are about 1" in dia.  Used about 4 of these on each side.  Took me about 45 min on each side.  Used the 2" baffles.  Sounds fantastic and is not overly loud, and I can swear that the motor doesn't seem to bog as much on the lower end.  Can't wait to take out the cat and get the TTS.

The grind out with a Dremel tool is pretty easy if you use the right grinding attachment to do the job.  I started off with the wrong one and it got very frustrating.  Once I found the correct tool, it was a breeze.  You can always find a set of stock mufflers to replace yours or get a set to do the grinding on.

Cobra makesa 4" slip on, and if you want EPA approved 4" slip ons, look at the BUB 7 Stealth muffler.

You should be able to use the stock exhaust from an 09 or 10 model 96" non-California model to eliminate the catalytic converters.

2009 models have different O2 bungs that are not compatible with the new 2010 sensors. Still haven't heard whether all 2010s have a cat in the pipe.

According to this site http://www.fuelmotousa.com/2010harley.htm ALL 2010 Touring bikes will have a catalytic converter in the head pipe, not just the 110's.

Can't use Stock '09 headers because of the new smaller O2 sensors and their placement just forward of the collector on each head pipe of the '10 model year....don't know if the '96 stock 2-1-2 headers have the CAT or not... :nixweiss:  If anyone knows, I'd like to know too cuz I'll replace the cat version on my SESG with the non-cat ones...otherwise I'll wait until V&H (or others) catch up with the new bung size and placement on their head pipes.
