Hi Phil,
The first dealer to remove the 407 was Laconia HD, there was another guy that had about the same milage (3K) complaining about his tire. I overheard Lee Manning from customer service tell the guy we will take of you right now, I asked him that included me. He looked at my cupped tire and said why the hell not. Heritage did the second tire which now has the 408, so we will see what this tire does. I have been in the animal riding mode as of late and had better start to take it easy. I have been pushing it on weekdays up North riding at near or beyond my skill level. I lifted my SERK with the 13" Bitubo's and I'm still grinding the hell out of my floor boards. The arm holding the True Track to the Baker Pan is almost ground off and I usually don't take right hand cornres as hard as lefties. Did flattracking for awhile so going left is natural. I had to promised Renee that I would take it easy for awhile. The only thing I need now is to have the TTS installed and I'll be back to a much shorter back tire life span.
Sorry I got your message so late, I rode to Vermont all day on Saturday, love the country but hate the Helmet. We left early and got home at 6:00PM only to have two of my boys tell me they were picking me up to go Striper fishing at Plum Island at 7:00 PM. I got home at 4:35 in the morning. I was planning to go to the 10:30 Mass but we ended up babysitting all day. My 2 1/2 year old grandson Aidan just wiped me out, at least we got a nap in together and then it was back on the 4 wheeler. Life has been great, now if we can do something about this rain. Renee works in Concord so I pick her up at 3:30 and head up North as often as we can. Going again on Tuesday. I should be home everyday except Tuesday and Friday. been thinking of planning a 2 or 3 day ride with the wife before the summer is gone, any ideas?
If you ever make it out here you can take the 61 Pan out for a spin, it's been running great, starts near every time on first kick. I have it listed on Chopper Exchange. I really screwed up 2 weeks ago by taking the BMW 1300 out for a test ride. What a machine, just what the Doctor ordered for my spine.
Take Care
Ray G.
Tire cupping is just as the name implies, it has uneven wear rotating from side to side. It's an unnatural premature wear of the tire. You end up replacing the tire with plenty of thread left due to the wear from the middle to the sides. To me it looks like a person was whittling on it with a large pocket knife. Somebody can probably explain it better than I can.
