Painted frames
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:49:45 PM »

Why is it that the bigger CVO bikes do not have painted frames? The road kings have them but yet the 09 SERG and the 10 SESG are not painted. For me, the painted frame really makes it stand out. I tried to search around but came up with nothing.

I agree that all the CVO baggers should have painted frames. It would really make the bike stand out as a custom.

I got lucky, my O/B SERG frame is painted to match the vivid black paint on the bike. I think that all CVO bikes should have the frame painted to match the custom paint job. After all, that is what the "C" in CVO stands for...custom. The MoCo has been going on the cheap for not having a factory custom frame painted to match the factory custom paint job.

The 03SERK and all 07 and 08 SERK too

To me it just really sets the bike part from the rest. Granted some of the CVO bikes with the black frames have black in the paint job so they are able to save $$$ and just come up with a nice paint job to compliment it. I have taken 2 bikes apart to paint the frames and they seem to get a lot of attention. Maybe its because people really appreciate all of the work that goes into taking every single nut & bolt off of a bike.

I remember reading some criticism about the 03 gold frames in that they showed the rough welds. (They felt if you paid that much for a bike the welds should be less visible or at least finished better.)
Maybe H-D keeps the frames black so the rough welds don't show as much?  :nixweiss:

Their welds could be better that's for sure, but they show up with the black as bad as any color, so that's now why they're black for sure.  Just easier/cheaper to make them all the same.....ala Henry Ford. ???  har!  spyder

The painted frames would be awesome and, as previously stated, would truely add to making the bike standout from all the rest.

That's the reason that I chose the Blue  07 SERK over the Black 07 SERK.  Both had painted frames, but frames are usually black.

Sorry to go against the grain on this one guys, but some bikes suit colour matched frames, some dont, and I am glad my 05 yellow SEEG's frame aint yellow, I think it would look "home done". I think the same of the yellow cvo fatbob (sorry to all you guys thats got one) it just dont suit it. :'(

I sure like the painted frames too. It got me thinking what would look best on the 09 SERG. With the three diffrent color choices what would be the best color for the frame?

IMHO thats why the orange and black SERG looks like a true custom. I personally like the silver, orange then yellow.
