High mileage bike?
Seems a little much for most "normal" engines.
My '09 gets about 10k miles and 1/2 quart down.
My 113" engine gets about the same.
both engines are about 30k miles since new or rebuilt.
Normal things to look at in these engines are valve guide seals and rings, do you get any blow by? Maybe do a leak down check of each cylinder? Just some easy things to start with.
JMO, of course!

You're going 10k miles or more between oil changes?  If so at what time intervals do you hit your choice of mileage limits for service?

Yeah, doing a test, using synthetic.

Changed the oil at 10k, added a quart at 15k (filter change only). added a quart at 20k (filter change only).
Got 28k now, no issues, yet!
We'll see how the engine holds up.
My last engine was fine at the top end overhaul at 100k. Bottom end was still nice. Cam lobes clean, etc.

I don't recommend this to others, it's just me!!!

Edit:
I DO change my primary oil at 5k intervals........due to heavy loads and pulling a trailer.
Trans oil......changed at 1000 miles, no changes yet, again, that's just me!!

Sounds about normal. Depending on how you ride, I guess.

That could wind up being an expensive experiment.  Do you plan on having any oil analysis done to see if you're getting any excessive metal wear?  I hope you post some occasional updates - I think your "experiment" could have some interesting results.

Good luck

I started to ask "why?" but then realized that sometimes we're just gonna do what we're gonna do.

Since everyone seems to be intent on jacking this thread, try jumping over to this older thread.  Same issue.

I started to ask "why?" but then realized that sometimes we're just gonna do what we're gonna do.

Like I said, I don't recommend this for everyone, I have a "unique situation" here, and I like to see what happens to my motors under unusual situations. No, I don't use a dealer, yes, I do most all my own work. Why? Because I enjoy seeing if I can tear things up!!! LOL, since I retired, this is my "hobby"!

TLR: you are correct!

Mine has not used any oil. I try to keep an eye on it. Is any oil blowing by through your breather ?
