SERG Trade Values
« on: August 02, 2009, 08:21:04 PM »

Had a rude awakening when considering trading my SERG (Silver Fastest One) on the new CVO Street Glide. NADA and KBB trade in value is only $24K and some change! What gives?? How can a $31K motorcycle depreciate almost 7 grand in one year??? Needless to say, I'm keeping the SERG. What was I thinking????

You're basically comparing retail (list purchase price) to wholesale (trade-in).  A more appropriate way to determine the value of your bike is to check recent sales numbers for the '09's.  Most of the good, under 7.5k milers are bringing around 26k.

Granted that is trade in value but even $26K is weak. I have an additional $10K in options and labor in my SERG. Interestingly the dealer showed me that there are currently 31 SERG's available in Ohio alone. Amazing how rapidly they became available from Phase IV deliveries.
Happys to keep the SERG.

Saw the '10 SE Street glide in person. Looks like a SERG with a bat wing. I personally like the Road Glide stability. Keeping what I have is a no brainer. Variety is the spice of life so cheers to the SESG. :drink:

Got to agree with you that 26k is weak, but these are weak times and there are many states in the same or worse shape as Ohio with 31 or even more in the box RG's available.  When the closeouts hit dealer cost plus freight, the used bikes are going to  take another major hit.  With regards to options and add-ons.....from a value standpoint those bucks are gone from the day you spend them unless selling to a private party who's in love with your particular scoot.  You've got a great bike .... don't worry about the value, just enjoy one of the best CVO's.

I offered a dealer, here, $27000 for a Yellow one last week and he laughed. Literally.

He also has a Silver.

Thanks, I have been watching those. Ebay is tough, its a good way to get an idea of what something is worth but you have to wonder how many of those listings and sales are legit.

I remember reading somewhere on here about a guy who bought one for $26K new at a dealer. Makes you wonder, i can't see how its even possible. Some dealers want to move bikeswhile some like to hold them hostage.
