Perhaps the mech (I use that term lightly) that did the work at 15K didn't get something back together right......nah, nevermind, no way a HD Authorized Mech could do something like that. 

I got a cramp from laughing so hard.    That was exactly what I was thinking, but hadn't come up with a way to say it without hurting some folks feelings.

I also don't understand how that damage could occur if the spacers were installed properly.  You should be able to mount the sprocket to the wheel without the rubber pieces and still not get that kind of contact.  Fortunately, the dealership didn't charge it to the customer.  I think we all know some that would have.

I am hoping it was Skippy at the dealership that messed it up (Skippy, ever do a rear wheel?  Well, you need to learn sometime...").  Seems strange that it would be okay for so long then after having it off it fails so soon.  I really must fight the urge to buy Harley parts the first year they are produced.  They say don't buy anything made on a Monday or Friday, but with them it's don't buy anything made from September to about the next June.

Well I'm gonna attempt putting mine on tomorrow, not gonna laugh at HD Mech too hard til mine works right weekend is a wash for me anyways, gotta stay around the house so might as well do something to the bike if I can't ride it.  Got an Oil Cooler to put on also.....oh yeah and a set of them tourpak hinge things....and removing that damn HogTunes Amp in my fairing, it was a waste of $$$$......and anything else I can think of while I got it all torn apart.....sh!t....should have ordered the AMS lifters last week, could have done those also.......

Yes you do.  It is basically a rubber shock absorber for the drivetrain, mounted at the rear wheel and sprocket interface.  We called them "cush drives" back in the '60's, and all bikes I can remember had them until I started riding Harley's.

I put one on my 07 FLHX when they came out, they replaced it at 10k the original always seem to have too much friction , i.e. it was harder just to roll the bike with the motor off.  I've got 7K on the latest one , no problems . I think overall it is an improvement to the original pulley .

A pulley with moving/wear parts is ridiculous. The bikes have never had them or needed em! Get your motor running smooth and you'll never notice. The gearing on these new bikes does cause a lil jerking at very low RPM in first gear. But if ya never lug your motor like you should never be doing anyway, the bike will ride like good running HD's always did. WTH wants it smoother than that? It's a damn Harley! You should be feeling all of the bike! FTIDS!!!

I'm kind of thinking of doing away with the IDS Compensator and go back to the pre 2008 solid design. Hell i got 130 HP and like Hoist say's you don't want them things exploding at 100 Mph.

The gearing on these new bikes does cause a lil jerking at very low RPM in first gear. But if ya never lug your motor like you should never be doing anyway, the bike will ride like good running HD's always did. WTH wants it smoother than that? It's a damn Harley! Dump it SG!!! Plus, you can get a nice chrome pulley cover if you don't use that POS. Nothing can be done to get that ugly POS to look any better either!!!

Can you explain the issue with the HogTunes Amp please?

It gets hot after a little useage and sitting in the sun, starts warbling (for lack of a better word) when you crank up the tunes, I've check all connections, even put in heavier power wires, still does it.

I pulled it and have the (8ohm) Hogtunes speakers in my lowers still (and Hogtunes 2ohm in rear pods) and the factory 2ohm speakers in my fairing, with the lowers and the fairing speakers connected up in parallel, giving it an impedance of 1.6ohms, it sounds better connected like this than it did with the amp in there.......
