Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum. My name is Laurent and I'm living in the French part of Switzerland. I'm the proud owner of a Softail Springer CVO 2009 since two weeks. This is my first Harley! I had the chance to find a yellow one (no pics available currently), almost brand new with only 3500 Km. I've been told by the previous owner that there is only 3 of this color in Switzerland... whow!

Now I may have the chance to switch it with a black one, same overall conditions. So I need your advices in term of color, production number and value over time.

Should I keep the yellow one or switch with the black one?

Thank you in advance for your support and advices!

Greetings     Laurent

Welcome to the site! If you like the yellow, I would not change the bike. Purely for resale value obviously the black is a better choice, it appeals to most people.

Ride safely, and come to our meeting in Faak to see more Springers!

Hi Laurent,

wellcome to this great site  ;)

You should decide which one you like more - because the "value" of a bike is the fun you have riding it.

Other then that and if you regard your ride just as an investment, I would recommend changing to the black diamond/emerald ice. It's definitely more "mainstream" and probably will sell much easier. There is a "rule" with Harleys in Europe: the more black they are, the better they sell  ;D

Hello!

Thank you for your advices. I hope to attend the FaakerSee this year... If we are able to book an accomodation! Seems to be pretty overbooked in the area mid-September :-)

Have a good week-end!

Hi Laurent,

try again booking for Faak first week of September. Usually there are many bookings cancelled and several no-shows happen too.

Hi Laurent,

In any case you should be able to get rooms in Velden. It is very nice and not so far (20 mins via nice back roads) from Faak. Let me know if you join our ride!

Ride safely,

Welcome, Laurent-

I've personally only seen the black/green and cobalt blue versions of the Springer.  I bought the blue, since blue is my favorite color AND it matches my '08 Road King. The black/green/silver looks great, too.  I have seen the yellow version of the '09 Fat Bob and (although the color is a little lighter than the yellow on the '09 Springer) it doesn't look as good to me as the black or the blue.  Probably the best thing to do is to put the yellow and black bikes side-by-side (if possible) and see which one really looks better to you.

Whatever color you choose, you will enjoy riding the Springer very much.  It handles very well for a bike with such a wide rear tire.  Just be careful with the brakes - the front brake is a little weak until you get the pads worn in.  (Of course, if you are getting a pre-owned bike, that won't be an issue).
Ride safe and enjoy!

Laurent,

You have a great bike and a great color, don't worry about what other people like.  Bikes are almost never considered a good investment.  These are all good custom colors on the '09 Springers.  My advice, enjoy what you have.  Who knows, the yellow might be more rare and more collectable in the future.

today we rolled a blue one in our dealership, collecting the left-overs from other shops.

We were all quite impressed by the looks of the bike. Definitely a beauty. And in Europe very rare. None of us had seen one before.

A BIKE MAY NOT BE A GREAT INVESTMENT, BUT I BOUGHT A 89 SOFTAIL FOR 9600- KEPT IT FOR 10 YEARS AND SOLD IT FOR 14500. ONLY A HARLEY WILL DO THAT. GRANTED I DID CHANGE IT A LITTLE, BUT I LET THE JACK-OFFS WHO PULLED IN FRONT OF ME PAY FOR THOSE MODS [ WHAT THEY PAID TO FIX THE BIKE AND TO FIX ME WHERE DIFFERENT MONEY SO DIDNT COST ME ANYTHING]!!!

Anyone selling a HD in the '90's made a windfall. HD couldn't make enough bikes back then. Supply and demand! Try it again now! You're bike won't be worth chit 10 years from now! ;)
