PC Tuning Question
« on: August 06, 2009, 08:54:15 PM »

I have a PC USB III on my '03 SERK and I'm running canned map #M807-126.  The map seems to run very well except the bike seems to vibrate when taking off from a stop in the 1,000 to 2,000 rpm range.  Once I get over 2,000 rpm's it smoothes out.  Without having the bike dyno tuned can anyone tell me if I need to adjust the settings in this rpm range?  Any suggestions?

BTY, I have checked the plugs periodically and they look great.  Just a nice light brown color.  The plug in the front jug might be a little lighter than the one in the rear indicating the front jug might be running just a touch leaner than the rear but it's not bad.

The above map is for a '03 CVO 103" with stock ECM, stock mufflers and a stage 1 air kit.  I've run this  map with both stock muffs and also 4" CVO's with 1.75" baffles and can't tell any difference.

There aren't that many fields in a Power Commander map.  Having said that what fields that do exist are interrelated both to those adjacent to them (fuel and timing) and to all the variables on the engine and its intake and exhaust system.  So it's not just a single answer to the question of "what do I adjust."

If he's still up there catch John Golden.  He's perhaps the best Power Commander tuner in the country and is at Sturgis.  He also does a tune for a very fair rate relative to the market at large.  If you can catch him you have the opportuntiy to have it done, well, once and be done with it.  Can't be more effective or efficient than that.

Just checked the calendar on his website and he's posted as still working the event through (the 8th).  Give it a shot.

don't think it's a tuning issue, sounds more like a drive issue, belt, compensator, clutch, primary? are you using Dyna beads, if so, stop. I'd look at the mechanicals first. and I definately would not DYNO before ruling out what it ISN"T
