Seat (well chrome tailpiece actually) question 2006 flstfse2
« on: August 07, 2009, 10:28:15 PM »

Ok so as I have said previously, the engineer at Harley who designed the seat for the 2006 SE Fatboy should be proscecuted.  I have replaced the death chair with a Mustang 17" solo which is wonderful on my butt however I would like to somehow incorporate the original chrome tailpiece into the new seat.  Do you think if I took the tailpiece and seat into my dealer someone could make that happen somehow?  One of the problems is if I lay the tailpiece in the back, it is about 4" short of where the back of the Mustang seat happens so something would have to fill the gap.

Do you think this is feasable or should I just give this up and buy the Mustang passenger seat to make it look nicer even though I never have a passenger?

I would buy Mustangs passenger pillion, especially if you plan to do 2-up riding. You passenger will thank you. You could take you seat to a custom seat maker and have him rework you existing seat, maybe out some gel in it. Alligator Bob in Illinois does inserts while you wait! I think thats the way I am going!

If you want to keep the chrome surround you are about going to have to have someone rework your seat and the passenger pillion.  Alligator Bob does a great job, he is just a little to expensive for my taste (hey I'm cheap).  www.Knoplace.com does a great job and if you search through the Fatboy thread you will find some people that have used them with great success for about half the price of Alligator Bob.  Just my .02  :cucumber:
