« on: August 11, 2009, 06:41:22 PM »

looking for input, not happy with 09 110 seuc performance, rode skyway drive this past weekend, traveled rt 250 back to michigan, found myself underpowered. i am debating between larger displacement or just compression. i have been looking at revolution performance cyl upgrade but not sure.wondering if anyone has any input on the different setups

Just out of curiosity have you done any mods to your motor already?

My solution:

I left it 110"

S&S crank
Timken bearing conversion
Axtell Barrels
CP Forged Pistons
S&S 585G gear drive cams
Headwork, setup for 9.8:1 CR
62mm HPI TB w/HPI A/C
All ARP SS hardware
Buncha other stuff too!

Not a lot of choices since you can't buy crate motors for these. So I decided to just rebuild my 110 properly! After all...................................

Under-powered?  I know there's never quite enough, and maybe not as powerful as it could be.  But I can't imagine many situations where a 110 (or even my 80") doesn't have enough power to do what I need it to.  Maybe passing from 50 mph in top gear, but that's what the little lever on the left side is for.  Sure it makes lots of noises doing it, and some day it's going to make one big noise then none, but under-powered?

anything you do will require timken, weld, & true.

then the sky is the limit.

you can turbocharge it, blow it, install nitrous. [actually nitrous can be a cool thing.... ]

how much do you want to spend?

old 6 cyc kaw with nitrous a friend had in the 80's pulled a trailer two up though the traps at 130.. near bend or.

its all a matter of how fast do you want to go?

Well, mine isn't a 110, but it bears similarity to what Howie did.  Differences are:
117cid
Axtell reverse dome pistons
Bob Wood's TW-408G cams
Headwork, setup for 10.25:1 CR
55/58 HPI TB w/SE A/C
Plenty of other goodies.   :2vrolijk_21:

.650, Sir.  Don't have duration handy, but it is short and aggressive.

Chip, if PDFs are an allowed format for upload check below here for an attached doc.  It's a little cam doc that's been convenient a few times.  If it doesn't attach I'll email it to you.

i did a 117 also.had hillside cycle do the work.went with a hobanized crank with their h beam rods ,axtell cylinders the 408 cams from woods set up for 10.8 compression.bike used to be sluggish but now even in 6th gear you just crack the throttle and it goes. :cucumber:

Jerdawg,

Under what conditions do you feel the bike is under powered? Your combination should be producing @ 100 HP and @ 120 TQ.  If you are looking for more top end, a larger throttle body, head work, and a cam change (Woods TW-8, TW-9, or TW-408 among others) will get you in the 125 range for both TQ & HP.  You would have to seriously consider crank work, rods, and Timken conversion to retain reliability with that much power. It's only money $$$
