Book says don't exceed 3000 rpms for the first 50 miles, then from 50 to 500 miles, vary the speed with engine speeds up to 5000 rpms permissible in each gear. I broke my SEUC in that way and no problems...that's the way I'm breaking the SESG in also.

Which in sixth gear, 3k rpm is a pretty good clip. The other thing they told me, especially in the first fifty miles (till the rings are seated) to vary the rpm, don't keep them constant. So, as I headed down the freeway back towards home (200 miles) besides running from 70 mph down to 55 mph, I would also take an off ramp every five miles or so.....just to fluctuate the rpms and gears. A couple or three of those off ramps I'd actually take a five-10 minute break just to let it cool back down. That was by choice, nobody told me to do that.

I left just a few days later for our south west tour through Zion National Park, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Sedona, etc. Just rode it the way I normally ride at that point.
