I would like some help on trying to decide which shock would be better on perfomance and cost.

Phil

I have ridden a Road King Custom equipped with Progressive 440. The ride is a lot better than stock. However, I did bottom out a couple of times. I equipped my SERK with the Works Street Tracker. The ride is the same as the Progressive but I have not bottomed out with em. Cost is very similar.

I like the BARS system on the Works shocks for making adjustments for solo, two up, two up and loaded down. Hope this helps.

The Works shocks will cost a little more, but then you are getting a custom part versus a standard off-the-shelf part so I would expect to pay a little more.

Do you currently have to change shock settings quite often to adjust for single or two-up riding, or no loads versus heavy loads?  If you do, the thing I've been looking at is the ease of making the preload adjustments on the Works shock versus the Progressives.  All that cranking of the collar while counting turns on the Progressives could tend to become a PITA if you have to do it very often.  With the Works system, just move a simple lever.

One other item that was posted about quite a bit a few years back was a clanking noise from the Progressive 440.  I've never seen anything indicating a fix, perhaps some of those who had that problem can chime in and update that issue.
