One of 2 things will happen.

You will be happy with the dealership you work/buy with or you won't be. If you like/trust the dealership you work with then you have to make your own decision to sleep well at night.

I purchase the extended plan every time and I always get my moneys worth. What I think is a fair price you may not.
That is life.

For some reason the bikes I own have a failure such as a radio which needed to be replaced 26 months after purchase.
Harley replaced free of charge.....if you want to call it free, after the purchase of the ESP. And there have been many more instances were it came in handy.

Pay for it once....enjoy the bike with no worries. Isn't that the goal???

My experience has been, if your original warranty is active you can still purchase the ESP.

Yes, you can, up till your factory warranty expires, but there is a $150 surcharge if you buy it after 90 days or 2000 miles, whichever comes first.

Bought mine from Jenni last Sept (09-08-2008) just before the factory warranty was going to expire on my '07 cuse.  Paid $1748.50 for 7 years with wheel and tire.  Seems high but I checked with several dealers local and online and this was the best price at the time.  Plus the contract may well be subject to sales tax if bought from a local dealer.  Another big savings if buy out of state.

Isn't it correct to think of the extended warranty as 2 years less than it specifies since you get 2 years as part of the new bike warranty?

Also, in your experience(s) do you think you get more for your bike when it's time to sell it with the warranty or not?

You're correct, if you get a 5 year ESP, it's 2yr factory + 3 year ESP for 5 years total.  The difference is if you get the Wheel/Tire warranty, which you should, that starts from day one all the way through to the end of the ESP....well worth it.

I wish I had the tire/wheel warranty, but it wasn't offered to me and I didn't know it existed.  It would have paid for itself already.

Yep, that's what my dealer sold mine to me for, after I informed them that I would go with Jenni if they wouldn't offer the same.  I told them they could lose the sale and any profit totally, or sell me the ESP and make a little less, their choice.  They gave it to me for 20% off.  ;)

I'm not intending to pay MSRP but if they offer 20% off MSRP and you don't know what the actual MSRP is, how will you know if you paid 20% off. That was my obejctive in finding any source of info with the MSRP of the Extended Warranties.

The dealership should have the flyer that the MoCo put out that lists the prices. :nixweiss:  I've got one at home, but I'm still on the road....

You can ask them "what's the seven year extended service agreement cost?".  Then when he tells you, you can then tell them that you know it's negotiable with some dealerships and that there are dealerships out there that you can get it from at 15-20% discount....are you willing to negotiate?

Here's the link to H-D's website describing the ESP (Extended Service Plan) but it does not provide any specific pricing.  I purchased mine almost a year ago right before the factory warranty expired.  I paid $1644 ($1,494 + $150) for the 7-yr. without opting for the tire/wheel option.  This was MSRP.  I called many local dealers & even out of state to find that the pricing was all over the place & never saw 20% discounts.  I have the brochure from last year that shows the MSRP pricing at that time.  Not sure if those prices have been revised & there was no premium at that time for CVOs.  Some dealers were very open about providing this literature freely while others did not.  Wish I could've found a dealer to sell it for 20% less.
