Nacelle on a 2005 SEFB, will it work??
« on: August 16, 2009, 02:41:24 PM »

Hey Guys, I scored a Brand New headlight nacelle from a dealer on ebay, it isn't here yet but I was wondering after looking at other members SEFB will it work with the exisiting beach bars w/o changing brake/clutch lines and getting a different set of bars so the tach mount will clear???

I don't want to lose the tach, but I love the nacelle look on a fatboy. Any suggestions??

It will work but you will need to place spacers at handlebar risers.Othervise tach touches the nacelle.I made two sapcers about 1 cm thick with a 13 mm hole in it.Just try to make it cut from an aliminium. Its been a while but im pretty sure these were the numbers. :drink:

This may sound stupid, and I haven't torn anything appart yet, but wouldn't a couple of large chrome washers work???

I'm sure they would work just fine.

Raised the bars 1/2 inch, tach mount just barely clears the nacelle but it worked and looks great.

Big thanks to all of you  :)

Did you end up using washers, or spacers?

Used 1/2 spacers, found chrome ones at the hardware store, 1.75 each. The tach is resting on the nacelle so I may see if I can get in up off there a hair. I am thinking about putting t-bars on it later and I don't want to ruin the finish on the nacelle.

Amen' Brother, those pipes have saved me a time or two.
My wife loves this bike, but hates the wheels. She gave me the go ahead to buy new wheels. I kinda like the centerline wheels, but I am tired of polishing them every couple of weeks. Probably won't get them until winter but I have a good idea what I want on the bike!

Stay tuned!

Nice taste in bikes!  You'll find that the upgrades "never end."  I just completed the chrome inner primary, flush-mount gas cap/fuel gauge and heavy breather A/C. Still want to add chrome brake calipers and am in the process of changing out the foot controls to extended reach forward controls (I'm 6'4" and the current setup isn't real comfortable.)

Looking forward to seeing which wheels you choose.  I too have have been considering that for my final (yeah right) modification.

I got tired of polishing the solid wheels constantly too, so I turned to the contrast cut line at Performance Machine.

Your bike looks great.  I plan on getting the nacelle next.
