There is a fuel overflow hose located under your tank trim that routes excess gas to a point near your lower frame rail (near the ground) - I suspect the hose is not connected...   :2vrolijk_21:

I've noticed that the 09 requires a slower fill than any of the rest of my bikes I've had previously or it splashes out a bit while filling if you dont point the nozzle to one side or the other.
If it isnt the overflow then your canopy isnt tight or the gasket under the canopy has a problem.   I'd be pulling my console off pretty quickly to give that a check.   Since you mention the level gauge acting funny I'd almost suspect something funky going on with the canopy and it's assembly that sticks inside the tank.

good luck and keep us posted.

I was thinking the same thing... if in fact that is the case you could be causing damage to the paint under the console. :nervous:

suggestion. locate problem! take bike to dealer and show him the problem. then have dealer document the leak onto the gas tank just in case you have paint problems later!

1. cool down.

2. forget any sort of harley gauges right away -they are all faulty.

3. if you'r not satified with a dealer, try the next one (there are some couple of 100's in the U.S. of A.)

4. do you really believe BMW(or Honda or, or ...)-customers get better products or service? (forget it, they don't ...)

5. a motorcycle is not a car. Mercedes does not build motorcycles (any more, they built the first one and that was enough for them!).

6. anyway, we are victims, get used to it  ;D
