Garage Door opener
« on: August 18, 2009, 05:07:53 AM »

Help anyone knows about this? I did the mod. of keeping the passing lamps on with the high beam. I wasn't thinking about the garage door open option , I guess the opener works with the yellow wire from the low beam that I cut. I rather the safety, but it would be nice to have it all. For years the garage door opener was the wife, I may have to go back to that if I can't fix it. ???

Help anyone it's a 09

Accessory switch?  Unless you have something wired into it already.

I'm not sure what the wire colors are but the passing lamp mod has nothing to do with the garage door opener.  I mean I have both and they both work fine. :nixweiss:

Trey not sure where the problem is. The garage opener works when you toggle your high and low beam. The wires from your head light are yellow and white. Cutting the yellow wire should not be a problem if you reconnected it. The yellow wire is your low beam circuit if I remember correctly. So it should not have been disconnected at all. Go back and recheck all of your connections.

So sorry I could not responsed earlier but this what I did.

You might want to try this. It's a trick I've used on the last 4 Ultras I've owned giving better night riding visability and it allows your passing lamps to stay on in both high and low beam mode.

HEADLIGHT TRICK

Open the left handlebar switchbox, and free the dimmer switch. There are three wires going to it: blue, yellow, and white. Cut the yellow wire about 3/4" from the switch, and tape or heat-shrink this stub. Now, simply splice the yellow wire onto the blue wire, insulate it, and put it all back together. Be careful not to pinch any wires when you tighten up the switchbox screws. Now when you switch to highbeam both high and low beams will stay on giving you better visability and as long your dash spot switch is turned on your passing lamps will also stay on with either low and high beam too.

now I just did a search and I saw someone else also lost the opener function. Like you said the high and low beam works fine with the passing lamps but the opener in not

I with back and reconnected the yellow wire which is the low beam supply. The garage door opener work now. So the the garage door opener is supply from the low beam and so is the passing lamps.

On the 09 bike with the multi funtion rocker which is the best way to keep the passing lights on with the high beam on.
