One more on Windshields,
« on: August 23, 2009, 10:22:25 AM »

Ok, I have tried the stock SERG, KW 12 and now the CB 14.  I hated the stock and KW 12.  The CB 14 is good around town and 50 mph and below.  Above 60 the buffetting on my sunglasses and wind in my ears is bad.  I have tolerated it most the summer though.  However it makes anything over 300 miles a day miserable.

I am 6' 1" with 34" I word.  I have a Danny Gray solo which keeps me in the same seat hight as the stock SERG seat.

I am getting ready to purchase one more Shield.  I have read every thread in this section on Windshields.  I have ruled out the Kury Airmaster, and the Winds Vest.

I am looking hard at the CV or a CB16.  I would like to hear what others close to my size think of these shields.  I know Larry is using a CV and I think it is the CV GT Stock hight.

In the CV I am not sure if I would be better to try the CV GT medium or large.  I do not want to look thru the shield.  I also do not want the wind trying to take my helmet off or my sunglasses.

I would greatly appreciate any input.  I know this has been beat to death but this is the only think keeping me from being 100% happy with my SERG.  Right now for over 300  miles I prefer to ride my fatboy or the wifes Herritage.  It is to the point function has over taken looks or cool factor for the SERG windshield.

Thanks

I have the CV GT Small.  I am 5'9", 30" inseam.  With the stock seat the top of the windshield is right in my line of site.  I find myself hunching down so I can see better.  I like the quality of the windshield but would like to find a way to cut a couple of inches off it it.

Unfortunately, this was the shortest windshield they had other then the sport.  I would think at 6'1", the CV short would give you a couple of inches above the windshield.

It didn't matter which shield I tried, the buffeting on my bike was caused by the updraft of air from below. The "wings" on the batwing fairing coupled with the downturned scoop on the forks fixed the problem for me. Now there is no air unless I open the wings.

I also tried a number of windshields on my RG with no success, I finally discovered the turbulance around your ears is not coming from the screen, I installed a set of lowers and they eliminated 90 percent of the buffeting. I can now tour at 80 mph in relative comfort with a 14 in screen, Im using a Clark screen at the present time for trips but im sure the lowers would help greatly with what ever screen you prefer.

I have Clearviuw GT small with recurve with vent no tint.I am 6 foot tall and it works excellent with stock seat.I went up to 110 with half helmet and even then felt comfy. I would definetly recommend it any one 6 feet tall.

If you phone John at CV he will make any height you want, I have a custom made 12" with a re curve.

I have the CV GT med and the 10" dark tint recurve. For me, at 6'1", the GT med is great for long highway riding. I can see over it fine. I was originally going to go with a diffrent CV shield but after talking with John ( he sure knows what works) I choose this one.

Im 6ft with the Corbin, had the CV GT stock w/recurve on the trip to sturgis, works great. no wind and I see over it. I put the CB back on for local, I see over it more, I think its the 14". I'll probably switch back and forth as needed

I am trying to decied between the CV GT Stock HT with recurve or the GT Medium with recurve.

How much do you see over your CV GT stock?  Could you still see over it if it was 2 inches higher than it is now?

I am 6' 1"  with a 34 I word....

If it was one inch higher the edge would be in my line of sight, 2 would be no good. It's right at that sweet spot. I have a 32 I word, so from seat up, we are about the same. Another factor on my bike is that I have lowers on mine and the air flows around from lower to windshield

Don't have a Road Glide but sounds like maybe Lowers may help you out.
