Sound of 09 SEUC with removed cat and stock mufflers
« on: August 25, 2009, 10:51:40 PM »

I have some standard head pipe take offs (no converter) that I will be installing on my 09 SEUC.  Can anyone tell me how much louder the exhaust will be with the stock CVO muffler?  I like the sound of Rinehart slipons however I am concerned that they would be to intrusive and loud for long distance trips.  Wishful thinking that removing the cat will give me what I am looking for.  My next option would be fullsac  baffles but I do not what to attempt to do the conversion myself.

removing the cat makes it louder ( mine did so ) and made it sound more aggressive.both only a little bit.

Thanks Highjagger.  Anyone else have any experience with this combination?

Your bike will have more tone with the cat removed, it will sound perfect with 1 3/4 fullsacs installed, install only involves carefully grinding away two small spot welds on each muffler, there is plenty of info on site to easily accomplish this task.

I installed the Vance & Hines Power Duals, which do not have a cat and left the stock mufflers in place.  The sound is still fairly quiet and is not bad on long trips.  If you are trying to keep it quiet with the non-cat heads and stock mufflers you will be happy.

I have the non-cat and stock mufflers and am very happy with the sound.  My BSR says it is too quiet, but I rather enjoy it this way after my last one was too loud.  It is a noticeable difference both in tone (deeper) and volume (slightly louder).  Try it before you buy anything else and judge for yourself.  Good Luck.

I live in St. Charles and we have the same bike.  I did my fulsac conversion and would be happy to help you with yours.  It is very simple.
You can hear mine with the 1.75 fulsac and no cat to see if it is what you want.
Personally I could not be happier with this combo.
Thanks to Jim Kerr you can get the youtube version here.

I recently installed the 2.25" Fullsac baffles in my 2010 SEUC. If you're comfortable using a dremel with grinding stones, its a relatively easy but somewhat tedious job. I did not find the sound all that loud after the swap out although I still had the cat in my header at the time. I'm currently getting an engine upgrade and my head pipe is on its way to Fullsac to have the cat removed.

I should be able to better report on the loudness of my 110 with the 2.25" baffles and a catless header in a week or so.

Thanks Guppytrash.  Before I decide to go with the Fullsac baffles it would be very helpful to listen to your bike.  You probably noticed that I live down the road in Batavia.

Thanks. Let us know your thoughts after you remove the cat.

That is fantastic we are nearly neighbors.  I will send you a pm with some more info.  There is another silver/blue 09 that I ride with that has the V&H true duals and monster ovals so we can get the identical triplets together for some rides and some photo's.
I would be more than happy to help you with your exhaust.

I have heard these bikes with several different slip ons and head pipes.
I did the Cat removal from the HP and installed the 2" Fullsac baffles, left the packing in. with over 17k miles on the bike, it sounds sweeter now. I am considering changing to the 2.25 baffles
don't forget you'll need to do some kind of Tuner. like TTS Mastertune or SSERT

If you looked at a stock baffle you would not want it in your muffler.  :o Call Steve @ Fullsac.... dont be caught with a half a sac or a empty sac.  ;D

From what I understand, if you go with the Fullsac solution you will have no sac.  It will be ripped off from all the extra power you will get...
