Security system issues
« on: August 26, 2009, 04:43:28 AM »

My security system sucks. Doesn't even recognize when the stupid fob is in your pocket. Had problems with it before, had it worked on, now 3k miles later same crap. Have to enter in a code via handlebar just to ride it. Dread having to load fuel, cause then I'm going to have to enter the code again, just to leave. Talked to my cousin in Carolina, he rides '07 Ultra, he said have the dealer disable that crap, don't need it with that bike. Sort of hard to "walk away" with a 900lb motorcycle. I know that it will reoccur again even if the dealer were to "fix it", sort of like the powerlock system, not 100% reliable, not like a car, in other words, crap.  :sauer005: I'm thinking just to have them disable it this time around. Anybody else had trouble with theirs ?

Have you tried changing the battery in the fob, JT? They do run out......

Also, if you keep it close to your cell phone, the phone will interfere with it's signal strength, sometimes blocking it all together  :nixweiss:

During my recent ride to Niagara Falls and beyond I had the same thing happen to my ’09 Street Glide. Had to use the TS switches for most of 6 days to fire the machine up or even move it. It turned out that the security module soiled the nest. In my circumstance the security module threw a code that essentially said to replace the module. I have seen a few of these modules fail; it is not unheard of. Of course the battery is cheap and easy, try that yourself first.
