This couldn't be the same person that has given me chit about not going around my TP w/power tools to install hinges?? And to top it off the hinges are decorative and the TP is only on once/twice a year... in this case the vents are functional and are on a lot more then the TP... The things that make you go "hmmmm". ::) :P :wiseguy:

Doc, after all the nail biting on cutting the original lowers to add vents I wimped out and never mustered the courage.  Just last week got a set of soft lowers to carry in the back during warmer weather and will use the hard lowers from November to April.  You were braver than I was.

No regrets so far, and I have been getting a lot of comments on them at the watering holes. I like your solution too.  Doc

Ok, I can take the weight.  Hinges don't require cutting big-assed holes in the body panels though.  At least I was only a small-c chickenchit.

Sincerely,
chickenchit (with soft lowers)

It's not about the size of the cut/hole it's about skill and comfort level. Everybody has them and it's best to know your limitations.

No it does not. So long as a guy has 95" or more and it's well tuned you're good to go.

I installed the 2010 brackets and got the lowers on ebay from a HD store in Iowa. Had a local painter take care of lowers and they work great. Alot less buffetting coming from the bottom of the fairing.

Hope to pick my bike up from the shop with my new lowers on in the next couple days!  :bananarock:

The mechanic was a bit concerned about how close the speaker pod is to the motor... looks to me to be almost 2"... but he was worried about contact when the motor shakes... anyone who has speaker pods have a sec to snap a quick shot of your right side, at the top of the speaker pod where the pod is close to the motor?  Thanks!!

Mine clears just fine. What speaker pod are you running, and what type of lowers.

Tight fit with that breather!
Local dealer has one on clearance for $225... trying to decide if I should go that route.

I've got the ones LarryB puts together... forgot to mention that.

my left side has about a half inch of clearance to the gas tank, the right side i little more.
no clearance issues with the motor. you might have to kick the upper fairing support bracket out a smidge to help with clearance.
Mike, I'm having my lowers repainted to follow along your scheme. looks much better than what I started with on mine.
Catahoula didnt have an issue with his

Thanks Larry... I'll be sure and post pics when I get the bike back.

The Hawg Wired set-up sounds pretty good (fired up with the bike pulled apart)... can't wait to hear it when the fairing is all closed up. If I decide to add the tweeter pod, what's a WAG on how much it'd cost to have your guy paint it yellow?
