« on: December 04, 2005, 01:40:18 PM »

 8-)

Ok, I just received my 06 SE Ultra and love every part of it excecpt of course the sound. Being an EVO Carb guy, I am in new waters with fuel injection vs pipes vs mapping.

I am looking for recommendations on slips ons, full exaust systems and applicaple mapping required.

Appreciate any info.

Welcome to the site,

I highly recommend the Freedom Exhaust System from Freedom Cycles in Reno, NV
Freedom Cycles can send you the complete setup: Exhaust, Power Commander with your mapping and a High Flow. Call Freedom at (775) 358-3500 or see their website: http://www.dynasite.net/dynaweb/1000441/explore.cfm?p=N&store=Y&U=1&SS=1&S=1000441

Newbe, welcome to the site and congrats on the new scooter! [smiley=2vrolijk_09.gif]

I think jeffj's already pointed you in a good direction concerning the topic of your post.  There are lots of satisfied Freedom customers on the board here and they are a one stop shop for the things you're looking for.

I was going to ask the same question in the way distant future when I get a delivery date.  Not that I don't appreciate JeffJ's setup, but I have 2 things going against me on that:

- I am probably not going to be able to get to Reno to have Freedom do the install,

- and, I wanted to have the dealer install the setup before I take delivery so it would be covered by the warranty.  That is my intensions based upon what I have heard, although I have not heard exactly what a dealer will install and cover under warranty.

For my purposes, I am looking for a good sound, and reliable performance in all conditions.  I will be riding through Texas Hill Country mainly, and frequently on highways and around town.  I will also frequently, but not always be riding 2up, and my beer muscle puts me at a manly 250 lbs  ;)

I was thinking of going with V&H Classics and a Techlusion.  I have heard good things and good experiences about Techlusion and I like the simplicity and the way it is not affected by temperatures or altitudes, and it is easily adjusted, and if worse comes to worse, you can turn it off and go back to factory settings.  Thoughts?

Also, what is recommended for air?

oh, I almost forgot...  Is it better to  have the engine broken in before making changes like this, or is it OK to get them done up front?

SEUC, unless you run in to extraordinary promises from a dealer you won't find them honoring the warranty on third party hardware.  Heck, it's hard enough sometimes getting them to honor warranty on their own name branded parts.  But if it's not "their" part they are only the selling agent who works as an intermediary to handle whatever is the manufacturer's warranty for you.  If you want the mods rolled in to the factory warranty with the purchase you're likely limited to HD parts.

I have warranty concerns also. First time I've had a two year warranty, so I don't want to blow it right off the bat. Personally, I'm also going with V&H basics, AC, and a SERT. My dealer has no problem honoring that. If that's all you plan to do, you could go with a lean, EPA flash, and then add the HD Race fueler, which will now add as well as subtract fuel to give you some tunability. One of the HD techs over on HTT has been very complimentary of the race fueler as a way to overcome the EPA lean flashes, and it should be a coverable item with most dealers.  BTW, don't forget the Texas Harley Riders annual Hill Country run, April 21,22, & 23 in Fredricksburg. Based out of the Frontier Inn, which is booked up, but the Country Inn next door still has vacancies. Hope to see you there.  I need another CVO to hang with.  LOL

My new Haze is scheduled to arrive in march or April.  I've been looking at some mods like the SE Air Kit, SERT & pipes.  However, the wife says "no loud pipes"!  Currently have a set of V&H Basic slip-ons on my '04 Road King Classic and the wife thinks they are too loud.  You see if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be getting the new CUSE so I have to please her too.  So that brings up a couple of questions:

Is there anything to be gained by doing the SE Air Kit and a SERT with stock pipes?

Or what pipes could I use that would provide the performance I want with not being too loud?  What about the Harley Touring Mufflers?

Thanks.

When I bought my 02 RK it had White Brothers 2.25 slip ons TOO LOUD.  Also rob about 6 to 10HP I think. I Bought a set of the Touring Mufflers and did not change the jetting ran RICH and they Sounded like CRAP to me TOO QUITE I could here every raddle that twin cam had and belive you me it raddles a lot. They are even more Quite than the stock 4 inch on the 06 ultra.  I put a set of Rineharts on my RK and boy what a difference that made it really woke it up.  Bought a new set for my 06 Ultra-SE, just waiting for the 1000 mile service to do that.  If they are put on right there great... I with Jeff the Freedom and the Rineharts is a great choice but they are a bit loud....I even bought the quite Baffles still did not like the sound. Went with the baffles that it comes with.   My sugguestion is to ride the bike for a 1000 miles before you decide to change something like that. Ride behind someone that has the Rineharts or what ever sound you like and then start asking questions about them.  (WHAT PIPES,  WHAT AIR FILTER, WHAT MAP) that works with YOUR Bike because not all maps are created equal.  There for a while it seem like I was changing pipes every week.  Rineharts worked best for me.......

I have a question about pipes, maps etc.  have a 2005 Screaming Eagle II FLH. I have hooker slip on tuneable mufflers, sreaming eagle air filters and PC III. I downloaded the map that was close to what I had and mileage dropped from 40 to 33 MPG. I had my dealer dial it in on the DYNO and mileage is up a little to34 to 36 GPM but it still feels too rich. Does anyone have a map for this combination? Or should I just start using the computer to lean it out a little at a time?

Any help appreciated.

Sunman,
Try posting this in the SEEG section rather than the SE Ultra section.  The 06 bikes are enough differnt (throttle bodies, injectors, catalyst mufflers) that you're fishing in the wrong lake.

I'm with ya.  Sadly my dealer told me that if he found a PC or other aftermarket type on my bike he would "void the whole power train warranty".  Of course he can't legally do that but there are some real idiots out there as we all know.  As of last week HD still had not released the re-flash so we cld put on the SE ac.  PC may be able to handle it though.  Good luck, DREBBIN

Hey Drebbin, I was waiting for the download also, decided to just buy the SERT and be done with it, installed the SE Air Kit yesterday and loaded the map from the SERT Kit recommended for our bikes, runs great so far, no popping, much smoother, rev-limiter moved up some, and it was easy to do myself.  If ya have the option, I'd recommend the SERT, if ya make any changes in the future it'll be well worth it.  Hopefully I'll get some more miles on it today and see what kind of mileage I'm gettin out of it, assuming I can keep my hand out of the injectors. I thing to remeber is that the SERT has no maps for an 06 bike and they HD is got going to make any so get a good tuner that understands the SERT.  The power comander is a plug in and can be unplugged if problem come up and you need to take the bike to your dealer and he will never know it was on the bike. Good luck and keep us posted.

Is the part number for the race tuner 32107-01D? Is there a map for the SE air cleaner and Rineharts/Freedom pipes?
