Rear Tire Replacement For Cupping
« on: August 27, 2009, 09:12:48 PM »

Has anyone had their rear 407 replaced for cupping? Dealer just got authorization from MOCO today to replace my front 407. I have 10,000 miles on the tires, and both are cupping badly, sounds like a truck with mud tires on it comming down the road, and I'm starting to get a vibration throughout the bike. Moco says that they aren't having any trouble with the rear tires. Should I wait until the new front tire is installed to see if the noise and vibration goes away, or continue to make phone calls?

My rear tire was shot after 11,000 mile so I just purchased an new one. The dealer gave me a free front tire after 9,000 miles. The rear was $225 plus $50 install.

UPDATE..... Dealer replaced my front 407 with a 408 last week. The vibration is still there but not as bad. The noise when going into a corner is still there but is all from the rear. When you run your hand over the rear tire tread, it's uneven and rough. The tire has 11100 miles and still has plenty of tread left. I guess it's back to the dealer tomorrow. Anyone else with this problem?? :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

       Yes!

After over a month of "polite persistence" and going back and forth between dealer and HD customer service, HD finally agreed to replace front and rear "cupped" tires at 9,100 miles; not as a warranty issue but to "keep customer satisfied."

Don't wait before complaining.  That just gives HD the argument that you've gotten your use out of the tire.

After the dealer was kind enough to replace my front I then realized how bad the rear tire is.  My rear is looking pretty worn now at 10700 so I will just replace it soon anyway.

I got 13000 out of mine, dealer replaced the front, but I had to pay for the rear, both were really cupped, bike rides good again, but considering they are the same tires I am sure I will have the same issues again.

Thats just it!  I had some hope they would have the 407 rear (408r) replacement out by now.
Maybe I will just have them mount it backwards :o :huepfenlol2:

Dealer replaced both my front and rear at 6600 miles. No charge !
