The HQ wiring harness ties the throttle position, crank position and O2's to the HQ box. The main objective for the HQ is creating a full time closed loop system including cold start and with 0 to red line rpm self adjust. I was told only drastic mechanical changes require master tune or race tune to get things closer for the HQ. It initially takes 20 miles for the HQ to find and adjust to riding conditions. From there constant self tune is adjusting to load and weather. If you run this system on a dyno it takes a few runs for the system to learn the load. If you feel a need for timing changes you will need master or race tuner. I also like the fact that I have a stock Delfi with no serts that would affect warranty. :drink:

Seems to me it would affect your warrenty just as much as My TTS would.  I can go back to the stock map at any time.

Same here Dave, I like my TTS and takes about 3 minutes to put it back to stock before warranty work.

But the $79 Nightrider does not use both 02's- crank position and throttle position for inputs nor does it self adjust to conditions. The plus to the HQ is the system conversion to full time closed loop and full time self adjust. I rode all day today with a fast paced group and was amazed at the throttle response and pull out of the corners. Average oil temp working it hard was 213F. I  offer my input to pass information that works and is an alternative to serts and expensive dyno time. Thats what this forum is all about I hope. I have no connection to HQ but feel I need to stand behind something that does the job as advertised.  :drink:

First of all I formally apologize to Larry, Texas, grc, DW, Dave, and Gre. The coveted HQ pro tuner took the big sh#t over the last week (slow death). Didn't last 1500 miles...The idle went to crap first. then surging at highway speed and popping back threw the intake on occasion...I have to say that if a tuning device goes south as soon as this did, I can't take the chance on reliability long term. I will go with the new HD race tuner with record. Looks like $450 down the crapper... :(

When I bought my new '08 SERK, I took delivery of it 11-17-07 and the Power Commanders were not out yet for the new ECM/ABS/TBW system.  I received the second PCMIII that the dealer got in that December.  There was only one map on the website and I downloaded that because it was very close to my Stage 1 setup.

I ran well and had more zip than stock.  I had about 2k miles on it when it started to back fire and sometimes just quit on me.  The dealer said they had issues with the first ones of that new series.  They got me a new one and took my map from the old one and loaded it into the new one and gave it to me.

I had no issues after that and it ran great.  I was also worried about reliability with one going south so fast, but it ended up working great with the new PCMIII.

Not sure how your system works, but I would get with the manufacturer and see what's going on.  I don't know that I would jump ship if they would take care of it.  In the PCMIII, all I had to do was unplug it and plug the harness back into the ECM and it was all stock again.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll let us all know what happens.

Larry, My friends at Fuel Moto tell me the HQ will eventually scramble values in the Delfi unit. I was told to disconect the HQ and all would return to normal. For now the stock tune is fine just as Jamie said and the bike runs very well again. Master tune is an option or the new race tuner that just came out with record mode. :drink:

there has been some problematic issues with the new RT, and HD knows of it and is trying to fix it.

My '09 ran hot from the start. TTS, and a few mods took care of that. 30k miles later, still running better than ever. No issues with heat, even with the lowers still on. Bike ran perfect in all conditions, no hiccups at all.
My '10 has the same issues with excessive heat, sluggish performance, low idle, etc. just not as nice as the '09. THAT will be fixed this week! Another TTS (shoulda bought the 2-bike version, oh well!!)
It's a shame we have to spend the extra $$$ to get these bikes to perform as they should.

I guess I may have been born too late, but, my 113 carb bike runs flawlessly. Idles good, starts easy, pulls hard. No FI for that baby.

Again, like some on this forum, it helps to do your homework, read all you can, decide what YOU are looking for in your setup, and make your best decision.

Is this tuner something YOU are going to use? Or, do you have a tech person doing the programming for you?? Reason is, if you have another do the tune for you, you may want to use whatever that person is most comfortable using, and has had good results with previous customers.
If the dealer is doing the work, maybe the SEST is best for your application??
My opinion, of course!
