Question for Classic SERG
« on: August 29, 2009, 04:07:07 PM »

I found a 2001 SERG and can buy it $14000.00. Is this a fair price for this bike?

12K, All original, even has the original exhaust, Has a small scratch on the bottom of the left saddle bag.  Other than that it is pretty much in great condition.

I welcome all comments , suggestions and insight.  If I decide to buy it I will do it on Monday.  Time is of the essence.  Really would like a 2000 O/B , but this color scheme is my 2nd choice.

Couple of things I would suggest checking, #1 check the grommets on the risers. At around 14k to 16k they start to soften. You don't want that. MAJOR speed wobble. How you can do that is straddle the bike and move the bars back and forth really fast. If the front tire stays with the bars, your still in good shape. But if its delayed, they need to be replaced, as soon as possible. You dont want to be going around a corner at around 80 or 90 mph and have speed wobbles...Not fun. Next would be ask the guy if the fuel injection is stock, if so, take it in to get that checked. I've had some problems with mine around that mileage. Ask him when the last service was and ask to see the paper work.

Good luck on the 01'! I'll never get rid of mine!

Check the cam chain tensioners, they are the weak point on the 95 inchers. If marginal replace with a gear drive cam set and enjoy the bike for many years. Doc

She is running a little rough at idle.  When I bought it yesterday it was pouring rain and didn't get a test ride.  The guy I bought it from is the original owner and has had some medical problems.  He hasn't ridden it in a while.  Maybe I need to open it up on the highway and burn some of the old gas out.  Maybe a tune up or maybe it is the throttle body.  Who knows? :nixweiss:  I did get him to go $13500.00 on the price.

Nice to see it stock, almost never see one with the shark fins and rear pegs. Thanks for the pics and enjoy the bike.  Doc

Question for Classic SERG
« Reply #14 on: September 01, 2009, 04:56:43 PM »

I bought the 01 yesterday and the rider backrest doesn't appear to be the original.  Someone with an 01 tell me if the rider backrest is black w/ gray insert like the TP pad and seat.  The backrest that is on the bike is the adjustable ( with lever by frame) type and is solid black.  Also, what size windshield came stock on this bike.  I have 3 different ones.

Thanks in advance.
