I just cant get comfortable 2007 SERK ... need help
« on: September 03, 2009, 12:50:35 PM »

I've been through all the reads via the after market seats options for the 2007 SE Road King.  Some leave gaps, some not, etc.   For a person that weight 170 but really looking for a better passenger option for the misses who chimes in at a whopping 130 pounds what is a good seat you have found that is as comfy as possible (especially for the passenger).  I want a Mustang, and on the web site various ones look super comfy but then I hear they leave gaps or dont fit, etc.

What have you found that works for the 2007 SERK ?

Any advise from the rider forum is appreciated.  I know tons of discussions ... Ive read them ... at least I think I did, but I spent my time, but nothing really hit a home run on all bases.  Dont feel secure picking one over the other and its a decent $ purchase.   Really need the emphasis on the passenger comfort factor.

Thank you,

I have a Mustang seat on my bike and it fits fine.  Yes there is a small "gap"  (see picture) but I have never had anyone point it out to me, or tell me the bike looks stupid because I have a gap between the seat and dash.  You have to decide which is more important, comfort or no gap.

My Mustang seat has a small gap but being able to ride all day is well worth it . it is my 3rd Mustang on different bikes and when I am done riding with all my buddies i can walk away from the bike with out moaning and limping. I have the solo seat with back rest verty nice.  Billy Sorry can't help on passenger seat.but my wifes low rider passenger is great.

I have a Corbin Heated Dual-touring seat. I had it reworked by Corbin after I got it, and now I'm happy with it. Jeff has a C&C seat and he LOVES it! ;)

Here's my C&C two up seat. Howie's right, I love it. Several +400 mile days on it with no monkey butt. The back comes up so nicely I don't need the back rest. My lady is comfy on the back too. No gaps.

Old pic with mini back rest and passenger pegs vs floorboards on her now.

I believe the model number for the rider seat is 79317, and passenger seat is 79356.  But it has been two years since I bought them.  Any aftermarket seat will be a significant improvement over the stock seat.  Deciding on which seat is up to you.  I have always had Mustang seats and have always had good luck with the seats and with the company.  LePera makes a comparable seats to Mustang.  Corbin and C&C allow you the ability to add heat and customization you don't get with Mustang.

Howie....Are those Corbin's harder than other seats? I was used to my Millenium foam seat on my 06 and now I want a solo for the SESG. I hate to order the $550 seat and then have it suck.....do you have that one on the bike I saw that night at Cedar?

Yep, that's the Corbin heated seat on the SERK. Definitely harder than other seats. But that seems to bode well on long trips. Once it breaks in and get used to it, you like it. I also had some fit issues. And dealing with Corbin after the fact can be a real PIA! But now that it's all said and done, I like the seat. My 2 street HD's both have stock HD seats and they're both fine. It seems you always need a better seat on their touring bikes though. ;)

I have a Mustang seat, 1 piece, think Ghost Rider's must be a two piece, My wife broke her back in 99 and the Mustang seems to work for her. Yes it does have a smaal gap but no one has ever said anything about it. This is the 2nd Mustang i have owned on 2 different Harley's.

Two Wheels, Did you decide on a seat?  Was your Wife happy on long rides?  I have started on a similar quest to make my Wife happy with her saddle.

I had a Mustang one piece on mine for a couple of years - outstanding comfort, no gap. Without question the most comfortable seat I've had. I switched it out for a C&C fastback because I never ride 2 up. The C&C is also a great fit, but not as comfortable.

Your wife will love the Mustang.
