FLHTCUSE2 Shock replacement
« on: September 08, 2009, 11:10:00 AM »

Hello, I tried lowering my FLHTCUSE2 with the inexpensive  adjustable lowering kit that is available on ebay.
I lowered it 1" and now I am bottoming out when 2 up or loaded with luggage. I think buying a 12" shock would
be a better solution. What kind of luck have you all had with after market shocks? I am 200# with a 130# passenger
really need the 1" drop.

I asked the Progressive sales person in Laciona which to buy,
standard or heavy duty, and he said not to buy the HD unless
you and your passenger were over 400 lbs, and towing a trailer.
I'm 5'8", and use the standard 13", and when your on rough
roads, they too will bottom out.

I had Standard duty, I blew a seal, that is why I specified (HD) It's a nice ride.

Your salesman is wrong.

I'm beginning to agree with you. I've been as low as 2 turns, and as high as 8 turns and I get the bottoming
over what I consider normal riding. The standard HD shocks didn't bottom out as much.
It was the Progressive rep. Now who can you trust????

I can tell you there is a big difference in the ride between the 2 shocks.

11.5 Heavy Duty is the way to go.....I will be the sales rep for you. I have had both and chewed out the guy that sold me the standard duty and got free replacements in the Heavy Duty.....no charge.

HEAVY DUTY

And just let me say I am only speaking for Progressive, everyone is different in which shock they prefer.

I had both the Heavy duty and the standard 440's on my bike. I have switched to the Suspension Technology shocks. They are a huge improvement in that they do not have the harse rebound or bottoming that the 440's do.

I use Works Shocks. I am extremely satisfied. If I were in the market again I would look hard at what Jim's offerring with the lifetime warranty.

Yep:

Well the price in comparative, and since he's run both shocks. Sounds to me like maybe you should run his.

I can only tell you I have run HD stock shocks and Progressive, that is what I base my opinion on. I prefer the Progressive, and if I had a choice I would choose the Heavy Duty.

Just got off the phone with the dealer I got the standard 440's from, and he is shipping me the HD's N/C!
By the way their price for the 440's, either standard, or heavy duty is $437.95, in black.
Thanks for your input.
