Firedood, I know where you are coming from with having this dealership do the job. I honestly don't feel that my contact was trying to conceal these damages. I find it difficult to see how he couldn't see them but he's not a Harley guy and admittedly doesn't see how these bikes cost as much as they do (he ain't the only one).
Well I boxed up the parts and shipped them today. I'll get back to you guys in a couple of weeks.

Rakeman,  :'(
I just picked-up on your thread, dude it does suck that your cherry came through with the damage, I hope the repairs work out for you, I think personally I would opt for painted brand new replacement parts from the Moco for that (pristine) bike that was promised. No doubt all will turn out good for you, just the fact that this is having to be a thing to do is a kick in the azz. Good thing its this time of the year though.

Just an update the parts arrived in Chicago today. The painter did source the paint directly through their local PPG supplier. I told them today to take their time and I don't want a half azzed job, and to use the bag lid as a guide for color and expected end result finish quality.
As far as my pristine bike as advertised it was not obviously, because of this and it was never cleaned prior to shipment and I believe since it was delivered to the original owner12-30-04.
I spent the weekend taking everything apart inspecting ,cleaning, sanding and polishing out scratches on plastic and metal. End result not too bad no chrome problems that others had 1 small spot on inside fairing but I'm now happier. When these parts return in good shape I will learn from the experience never to spend this much without looking at it yourself.
I'll be off for the holidays next Friday and will return 1-8-06 I'll follow up then. Thanks for all the advice.

My supposedly pristine Red Cherrie arrived today from Chicago damaged. We all have had fears of E-Bay and the horror stories that occur to some. I myself have made many large ticket purchases this way and have had a few problems. This could have been worse and I will get into the details of the damage and ask my new friends (you guys) for some help if it comes to that.
I thought I did the right thing by sourcing this bike on E-Bay then after the auction ended I aproached the seller a Honda car dealer in Chicago. The bike was owned by the dealership the owner in fact. I had a buddy of mine check it out and he thought it looked good but said it was dusty and needed cleaning (He knew squat about Harleys). I really just wanted a good pair of eyes and I went by the sales mgrs. statements that there is not a scratch on it.
Well there was alot more than a scratch on it! Both lower fairings scraped up pretty bad the left much worse, left saddlebag badly chipped up on lower portion, mostly bottom under the black stripe. There are a couple other little things I can deal with but the ones mentioned NO WAY.
I hope they can do somthing here and the salesman is going to the owner and I sugested he have him admit that he dropped it in a gravel parking lot somewhere.
My question to you guys is I'm hearing that the MOCo will not give up any of this CVO paint for any reason except in the 1/2oz. touch up bottles. Is this true? I will need quite a few bottles if thats the case!
If you read Jeff's thread on his hunt for the same bike his story ended a little better than mine. He did the smarter thing by flying out himself to inspect it.
On the upside I drove it home from the drop off point in 40 degree weather and it did ride sweet.

I mentioned previously the parts in Chicago now for fix and paint. I'll be gone after the 23rd for 18 days so they have plenty of time to make it right!
I also sent this thread to my contact to show him what a commited bunch we are, and the expectations I have.

Are there VIN derivative stampings in the primary sheet metal on these bikes?  If so be sure and check the rear when it comes off.  The front is easy to pull so find out.  Sounds like it's worth discovering whether or not you get a bike or a collection of parts made to look like one.

Try to get you local shop to give you the service history of the bike.

Things are bad enough as it is I don't think I have a pile of CVO parts. The dealership checked vin#s when I dropped it off and inspected it to determine the overall condition. I picked up on the obvious they checked it out completely. Engine, trans, break in condition, and alignment for any frame issues.
Once the painted parts come back and a commitment on the fender I'll feel better.

Tim, you know that we're all hoping for nothing but the best for you, in the end.  We want you to enjoy yours like we enjoy ours.  Hopefully, a year from now this will all be a faded memory! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Just a little update for those who have been following this thread. The car dealer's paint shop could not get the paint right on the saddle bag and fairings (not a surprise to many). They have now offered me new bag and fairings but will not discuss the hole through the fender (can't be seen unless you knew it was there). Anyone who has this cherry color knows it's not easy to match and I am even concerned new from Harley they will match. I told them to note Vin# and production date for the replacement parts but it's still a prayer.
On a good note I actually got a chance to ride this thing for the first time yesterday. It was about 60 degrees and put on about 80 miles. My other bike is a 95ci 01 Heritage and there is a difference. This sucker will move from 55 to 95 in a snap where my other bike is usually searching for another gear at 80. It will still take a bit of getting used to but first impressions good. I've heard all the issues others have especially frontend, rear susp. but riding through all the twisties I have here in western NC it wasn't too bad. My biggest fear was a rock chip coming from my buddies up front (more paint problems to fix).
