Hole in tour pack lid...Help
« on: September 11, 2009, 06:44:55 PM »

So I am installing the new tour pack hinges and the drill slips off and I drill a nice hole through the tour pack lid right beside the hinge. If I had a gun close by I thing I could use it tonight. Any ideas. Is there any one that makes trim for around the hinges. Anyone buy a new lid? Any idea what a new one costs???

OK here is the Pic. I already have a fix in the works. I know a guy that makes custom billet alumn. parts. I called him and he is going to make me chrome bezels to go around the hinge mount using the hinge mounting holes. I will post pics after they are installed in case anyone else needs them.

That's a great idea to fix your little mis-drill.  A little added expense and hassle, but you may end up with a unique look that'll add to the scooter's charm.  :drink: :2vrolijk_21: har!  spyder

I've had this guy do work for me before. I am sure they will be top quality. I will post pics when they are installed. I sent him pics and will get him some dimensions tomorrow.

Man the pic just makes me :bigcry: more. :( Looking at that makes me more confident that I made the right decision.... don't try installing them. There is no way I could even try doing the install now after seeing that picture.... I'd be shaking more then a dog chittin' razor blades. :nervous: :nervous:

You know, $25 is reasonable.  I did mine on my 08 in about 2 hours or so.  Only problem I had was holding the lid on while attaching the hinges.  On my 09, I asked the dealership, the Service Manager told me his guys took over 2 hours to do it.  Turns out this is because most of the time they destroy the seal and have to replace it.  I decided to do mine on the 2010 myself.  Took me about an hour, solo.  Figured out how to get the lid on without help.

Just give a shout.

You do get a lot of razzing about them.
