Maybe I could pay for them to vacation with my dealer.  The service level might be contagious? [smiley=oops.gif]

I have had a great experience with the House of Thunder in Morgan Hill, CA. I was leaving for a trip (next day) to the Southland, and noticed that my rear tire (I eat them  :oreally!) was pretty bad. I took the m/c in, and they did the job that same day. Kept me on schedule. This isn't a extravagenza (told you spelling is a weakness of mine) type story, but they were busy, and could have made me wait. They did, however, do it immediately, and I just wanted to thank them here.
On a heavier note, I have a few horror stories about San Jose H-D dealership. I will briefly list one today. I had to have my front tire replaced because I was leaving for Milwaukee, and the 100th party. I picked the m/c up, and drove away. I got on the freeway, and immediately noticed that my front wobbled as I approached 55 (yes I DO ride @ 55 <sometimes>). Turns out that someone "forgot" to tighten the two bolts that hold the axle in on the one side. Pretty scarry, as it could have come right off! I almost $(it in my pants. Dealer was appaled that I was angry. Ok another one (coffee's holding out)
Same dealer different day. Picked up m/c from a "routine" service, and rode to East side of SJ to a bud's house. Left there a few hours later, and proceeded to get on the freeway (always have stuff go down on the freeway/should stick to side streets). Anyway, haulin butt accelerating, when all of a sudden poof! smoke, and like I mean smoke. I thought I'd blown the engine, although there was NO niose involved. OIL EVERYWHERE!!! My pants were soaked; the bike was soaked. Turns out that the mechanic (loose word for this butt-head) didn't "tighten the filter" enough... Yeth! That's what (one guy I know who worked there/not official explaination) they confided in me. I had to tow the bike there (my expense) I had to clean the bike (my expense & Bubba told me that "besides you own a detail shop"). >:( I also had oil dripping for about a month thereafter. I had to detail that bike FIVE times to get it to stop. On a good note, nothing there will ever rust. So kids, if you want to hurt yourseklf, or get abused, take your pride & joy over to those great folks at San Jose Harley-Davidson. I still have more stories, but my coffee ran out; sorry. More sometime later, and I'll bet my time is better spent in positive thinking!

Paul's right on about San Jose stealership. I went there to kick some tires on the 2005's a couple of times late in the year and saw they had a [smiley=banana.gif]on the floor for two months. At first I did not like the color scheme, but after seeing a few on the road it grew on me, plus they are easy to find in the parking lot  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]. About the third time I talked to the sales weenies there, I just walked out. I offered them a cash deal, if they would get the price down to a decent level and I'd even buy the extended warranty, etc. They didn't want to leave their cubicles or negotiate, basically just said "The price is on the bike". They had it for another month or so and it was finally gone. Have not done service there, and wouldn't after reading his horror stories. They're even running a $2,500 6-speed install special, but no way do I want them touching the private parts. Sad situation.

When I first priced a 6 speed install, my dealer quoted me $540 in labor, plus $1995 for the gearset, so $2500  is not a very good deal. Unless maybe they include the hydraulic cover neceessary for the CVO's. Finally purchased it when they had a special. Spend $2500, get $500 off, so it was basically a free install.

The $2,500 is with California labor rate pricing, unfortunately   :( Generally runs around $100+, depending upon what part of the state. Terrible situation don't you know.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
