The ultimate trailer....
« on: September 12, 2009, 05:49:32 PM »

Pulled off the Interstate for a gas stop earlier today - and saw this parked at a hotel next to the gas station....  Two Honda Trikes - one with a very cool trailer...  The top was hinged at the front of the windshield...  The latch for the top as behind the rear window...

I was near Madison, WI when I saw it...  The bikes and trailers had Texas plates.  The other trailer was set up for a pet.  I'm guessing Mom, Dad and dog on vacation...  The car trailer was finished incredibly nice...someone put a lot of effort into it.....   :2vrolijk_21:

I have seen some Creative looking trailers, some are nice some aren't.

The character of this trailer is good, just don't think it's a good look behind a CVO.

That's a dog trailer by Wags.....  http://www.wagstrailers.com/pet_trailer.asp

Roger & Melanie have one and take their two dogs with them everywhere.

Here are two links for replice car trailers that I posted a couple of years ago:
http://bills-trailers.com/trailers/americancustom/index.cfm
http://www.carreplicatrailers.com/

And if you look close you can see "Ruthie" in her wags trailer.  She's logged about 13K in there over the past couple of years.

OK, silly question about dog trailers.  How loud is it behind the bike?  Does anyone worry about ear protection for the dog?  I am not going all PETA here but I was recently on a ride and someone had a dog carrier on the back seat of their bike and had just bought new, loud, pipes.  I rode behind them and it was pretty loud.  I know they make goggles for dogs, but earplugs???  Purely a question out of curiosity, not judging at all.

Although the trailer has small, screened windows it is fairly well insulated. I changed my pipes after that pic to the Freedom true dual because of my noise worries and am considering wrapping the baffles to quiet her down a bit more. Before taking the dog when the trailer was new, Melanie rode in it for a bit (sorry, no pics) and said it was pretty quiet. Also, due to CO worries, I never tow in traffic backups.  I'll pull over and wait, take another route, or risk it and ride the shoulder to an exit. I also have a mini cooling system but never tow in temps over 90 F.
Our trips take longer with the dogs as slower speeds, frequent stops, and more cautious riding prevails with precious cargo but we are not in a hurry.

And Roger will tell you that it's also one hell of a conversation starter.  Of course he's never been at a loss there. :huepfenlol2:

But I can't believe he still tows a black trailer behind a red bike. Must be a winter project in waiting. :nixweiss:

Seriously, when you see those Wag trailers and the way they're designed, they pretty much put the concerns to rest.  Roger has his set up for the small dog and Ruthie.  Following behind, they do look pretty comfortable back there.......till Roger starts taking them over the goat trails. :huepfenlol2:
