How low can a Street Glide be lowered
« on: September 14, 2009, 01:15:04 PM »

My Wife is considering a Street Glide as her next bike.  She's on the shorter side and her inseam is really what's holding her back.

She currently rides a 04 Fatboy.

I was told at the stealorship yesterday that the 2010 Street Glide can be lowered a whole buch more due to the two into one pipe design.  Is that true..?

If so, between the seat mod, progressive shock mod and front shock mod...  I might get her on a SG yet.... who knows may be one of those 2010 SESG   :huepfenjump3:

save your dollars buy her some platform shoes, the standard street glide is already low, my wife scraped her standard street glide exhaust crossover while cornering the first day she had the bike, lowering the suspension would also make the ride harder.

On our 07 SG we replaced the front springs with HD's shorter ones and installed Arrnott air shocks on the rear. The Arrnott's can be raised/lowered with the push of a button for parking lot maneuvers and will not bottom out. Installed a Corbin close seat and added more foam to that for an additional 1 1/2" forward seating. Also shaved off the sides as far as possible. Melanie also wears platform shoes when needed. Contrary to others beliefs, it rides just fine, it's just a little easier to scrape the boards now. She has put about 37K on it now. With the seat so far forward it's like riding a "big wheel" for me though.  :o  I know this doesn't answer your question, just relating my experience.

My SERG comes with the lowered front end and the same short shocks as the SG. I lowered it 2" with one of those adjustable ebay kits. It rides a little rougher but not too bad.

If you do decide to buy an adjustable kit from ebay PM me and I will steer you right. Ive bought a few from different vendors and have had good experiences and bad.

Thanks Guys...   appreciate the suggestions, especially the Arrnott suspension recommendation.  I'll look into that.

Take a look at Fat Baggers Inc. (FBI)  They are on the inside cover this month of Hot Bike Baggers.

They sell a 3" seat lowering kit the '09 SERG and I'm sure it will fit the SG as well.  Sit down first though as I think it was around $2k for the complete kit.

Check them out.  You can also get some info in the SERG forum.  Someone did a thread on them.  I'm too lazy to close this or open another link to get you the thread path.   :(  :(  :(  Actually the band width here sucks so I can only have one link open and I already started this reply.

Good luck.
