How is the SERG
« on: September 17, 2009, 05:09:08 PM »

I'am thinking of getting a SERG & was wondering if its all its suppose to be. They say the new frame design is better. I came off an 08 SEUC. I've found some new ones & lots of used ones with low miles. I did find an orange & black locally at a dealer on consignment but the owner wants 35,995 for it. I offered $28,500 on it & he turned it down. I told the salesman that was all its worth used. KBB & NADA show trade in around 25k & dealer retail at $29k. Oh well will just wait it out till i find the rite willing owner. I really do like the orange & black. How do the Yellow ones look in person.

The RG is all that and then some......I agree the yellow and silver/gray/platinum not only looks slower but according to scientific studies they are actually slower  :bananarock:!

Don't listen to those yahoos above... they are just jealous because the chicks dig the yellow bikes and they're stuck with orange!  :bananarock:

M SERG is my first HD. I'll admit, having defected from the Goldwing crowd, that I have talked a lot of smack about HDs in the past. But of course I was won over by the cool factor of the SERG. All I can say is, I was AMAZED at how nice the SERG rides. I only got to ride mine for 3 days before I had to store it and head to Japan, so that is the extent of my experience. But in those 3 days, I got in 1200 miles. The first day I did 500 miles (great way to quickly knock out the break-in!!) on secondary highways in the North Cascades in WA. Bike was smooth as silk, the drivetrain is so smooth I constantly forgot to shift into 5th or 6th, and it handles like a dream.

No problem at all rolling through 3 days of all day riding... was a sad moment to throw a cover over it and close the garage door   :'(

As far as price, they sold new in most places at RETAIL... so for someone to think they can get over retail on a used one, no matter HOW much stuff was added, is nuts. Look around and you will find a decent deal on one.

Get one... any color. You won't be sorry!

Forgot the last question...

I ASSURE you, there is no way pictures can really capture just how stunning the SERG (in any color) paint is... until you get one out in the sun, you can't appreciate how much this paint really POPS!!

Here are two pictures that come close... the first is mine, and the second in one I lifted off the board somewhere and have saved.

The dealer is sitting on a last year's model on consignment and is trying to get $4K OVER retail for it, when the bikes sold AT retail for pretty much the entire model year?!? what a tool.  :confused5:

Go check out the yellow... you won't be sorry!

Respectfully, I feel compelled to address the color issue.  You won't find any SERG's in Harley primer colors.  The Silver/Titanium can easily morf into either the Orange or Yellow by just parking it under an appropriate street light.  However, most Silver's won't be parked for long.

As far as performance this blog's has long ago established the list of common nicknames;

"Tweety Bird = 2009 Yellow Pearl & Charcoal Slate SERG3
Orange Crush = 2009 Electric Orange & Vivid Black SERG3

and,

Silver Bullet = 2009 Stardust Silver and Titanium Dust SERG3"

I don't really know, but some of those names appear to be grl byk names or maybe belong on a Schwinn Sting-Ray.

Otherwise, outside of color, the 2009 touring frame is AWESOME!  That's really the only word for it.

The 110 has pros and cons, but it's all Harley V-Twin torque.

And, it was a single year CVO.  That's a pretty rare event in the Harley CVO world.  So, there's only 3,000 of them out there.  Well, my SSERG and 999 other SSERGs and then the O/B and Y/S.

Bottom-line, the price is what the buyer will give and the seller will accept.

Hey, seriously though, it doesn't matter what color you get because they're all BAD MOFOs in person. If you're not in a rush to get one then wait for the right deal. You won't regret the purchase...

Well said!!  :2vrolijk_21:

Not sure where the OP is located... but with the riding season coming to a close, he should be able to find a deal somewhere!
