I have been considering doing just that. I am running Fullsac 2" baffles and don't think going to 1.75" is going to do the trick for me. Hence, I am considering playing with the stock baffles, or wrapping the 2" Fullsacs with a layer of material, and seeing if I can get them back in with the stock packing and screen still in place in the CVO cans. I figure the additional packing can't blow out due to the 'partition' on the outlet of the baffle. I had a set of CFRs, and any packing on an additional baffle on the inlet last about 1 minute.
I want something a bit quieter that isn't going to radically kill the engine mods I've had done. In addition, I am not exactly enamoured with the sound at idle now. Friends of mine agree with me on the idle 'sound', but say it sounds great at speed.
As far as mods to the stock baffles go, I don't really know where to start. I'm thinking you don't want to create too little back pressure by overdriiling, but want to introduce a little more 'relief' towards the sleeve of packing on the perimeter to quiet them down a bit.
