Have a dealership check it's VIN for the head gasket recall. If it hasn't been done yet they will order the kit to replace them for free up until 8/10. I just bought a 07 SERK and I had a light leak and had it done, and so far so good.
I love the bike, I've had quite a few different Harley's and so far I'm extremely happy with this choice. It handles great ( I like to lean hard ) very rarely scrape and it's CVO engine is a lot of fun.
One thing I noticed with this bike is it doesn't get the extreme heat output from the engine like I did with my 09 Street Glide I had for a short time, so to me that is a bonus.
I am very happy now that I had it serviced , runs great.
I see you've been interested for quite some time now so you must really have the desire for this beauty like all of us owners did and I think you'll find most are very satisfied with our SERK's..
Good luck with your decision

I first became a member to ask the same exact question and the response by harleyteam is the best one you can probably get.  I purchased mine with 1,600 on it and it now has 12,000 trouble free miles on it. ( :oknocking on wood now!!) So far it has been the best decision I've made and I'm loving every min of it.

Just in case though, I did put the money that I was going to spend on an extended warranty aside for any future problems.  From reading about other members engine problems most have put better after market parts on if they had to rebuild and are quite satisfied.  I'll do the same if something unfortunate should happen and I had to rebuild.

Go for it, I have a 07 SERK have been waiting on se Street Glide for 2 yrs., Now that they are out and have seen them i would not trade even for it, thats how much i like my SERK. As far as the gasket leak MOCO has a recall out good thru Aug. 2010, just had mine done with 16,500 miles on it. Have a dealer run the vin number to see if it has been done on that bike.  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Buy her, you will never regreat it. I've had my share of problems but still have never regretted a day on her. Best riding Harley I've been on to date.

LOVE the SERK. I also thought I would get a SESG when they came out, but no way. My '07 is outstanding.

And, Harleyteam is right - the red ones do seem to be faster!!!

I bought my 2007 several moths ago with 3,000 miles on her.  Checked the VIN ... "recall" or whatever ... was done, and I also had my dealership lookit through it.  I bought the 3 year extended warranty, and I walked out with it after all taxes, licenses, fees + 3 year warranty for $24K and change (FYI).  Couldnt be happier.  Added monster ovals, fuel pak, mustang seat + works rear shocks. Prio owner had alreadu added passing lights, inner primary chromed, signals chromed.  The little lady and I are basically riding a really comfy counch.  Its a smooth engine for what it is, an awesome sound, powerful, no problems and looks awesome (black ice for me).   Thats just been my experience to date.   I think for the right price you will enjoy it.

Much better shocks.  Feel more secure, I am a light guy at 170 fully dressed but I ride aggressively as I still do alot of track days with my other bikes, and they just feel solid.  I feel under control, I am not afraid of bottoming out ever if I am riding two up with gear, etc and Works did a nice job.  I forget which ones I got but for SURE get the extra inch of travel and I did go with the ARS knob or system that allows you to soften, harden, etc as needed.

All in all, with shipping, taxes, fees, they showed up at my door within 10 days for about $650.   Without ARS about $550.  I went with the works over the Progressives 440's etc based on all the write ups in the suspension section.  I really like them.  Please also note I added a Mustang Seat so that also affects the feel obviously but I have been riding for many years, alot of track days etc and even with the 2007 SERK, the Works shocks really made me feel much more secure, comfy and under control when Im riding the Harley hard.  My girlfriend also really liked them and we can really go all day now literarly if needed. Before not so much.

Thanks for the info Two Wheels, I'm trying to find shocks that will give a better ride but not give up the great handling of these bikes. The H-D air shocks are hard to keep adjusted, and i know what you mean about the Mustang Seat, I've had the bike 3 yrs. this month, bought it on A Sat. ordered the seat on monday, This is second Harley and second Mustang seat.  :2vrolijk_21:
