Fullsac Stage II on 09 SERG
« on: September 28, 2009, 11:23:21 AM »

I just put the Fullsac Stage II kit on my 09 SERG. I used the andrews 54 cams and the thinner head gaskets along with the Fullsac Stage II map. I had previously removed the cat. and put in 2" Fullsac baffles. I love the way my bike runs now! It has great low and mid range power. I think the bike sounds more like a 110" motor now and runs great! I have put nearly 1000 miles on since the kit and no matter how I ride it hard or easy it never pops or backfires and coming off the line is much smoother. I think the guys at Fullsac have it going on!!!! :drink: :drink: I highly reccommend there products! They have been easy to deal with and really know there stuff!!!! :orange:

My stock numbers were 85.02 hp and 99.74' lbs.  After drilling cat, installing 2" fullsac cores (with original packing),  HD heavy breather and Dynalink Tuner (a variation of the SERT) the numbers were 90.10 hp & 105.5' lbs.

After lots of reading: CVO 110 Andrews 54 dyno test! 120 LBS Torque! 102 HP! and discussion with Steve George, I went with the Andrews 54 CAM and swapped out to a Cat-less header pipe.  Steve also recommended the thinner head gasket which I had installed for a slight increase in compression.  After re-tune, I "mapped" 99 HP and 110 ft lbs.  Best, it's a very flat torque curve with  over 100 ft lbs between 2,400 and 5,100 rpms and the 110 peak at 3,700.  HP increase was very linear and consistent with 99 HP from 5,200 to 6,100.  I keep bugging the tech for an e mail with the map but don't have it yet.

Did not match fullsac's numbers but the bike runs much stronger now at all rpm's from 1,500 to 6,000.  I don't need to shift nearly as often.  The only major difference is the 2" v. 2.25" cores.  I also kept in the HD packing when I installed the fullsac cores.  That may cost me some power but the bike is still not too loud.  Have to recommend this one.

Greg

A somewhat flat torque line is great when it's triple digits.
I went with the Woods TW7H in my 09 SEUC.
Torque hits a 100 at 2300 rpm and rises to 109 at 3600 rpm and stays above 100 till 5700 rpm.
At redline (6200) it's still producing 95 ft. lbs.
Anything above a 100 at 2300 is a great thing on a heavy bagger like the 09 SEUC.

modified to add,
Thanks HD-Dude for the great advice and sending me the TW7H cams.

Chip,  Those are great numbers!  There is no "one way" to go and it's not like we're racing these monsters.  Hope we get to ride together sometime!   :2vrolijk_21:

I have sold that cam for the 110s and everyone likes them. The 54 can equal the result if the pipe and tune are right. The pipe has a major influence on the outcome especially the shape of the torque curve.

Great point on that! I found this too during all my dyno testing of various components when I built my motor, and tried to optimize it's performance based on my engine's design! That's how I wound up with a 62mm HPI TB and the Big Bore FC on it! Amazing how those components affect the shape of the curve! :2vrolijk_21: ;)

Can't say for sure since I never tuned this motor. The bike is still running on last engine's map. Only difference is S&S 585G cams now instead of the Cyclerama 595G cams I had in last year. It's detuned a lil now cause that's what Vern wanted to do to get it more reliable instead of that racing chit Wes does. That chit makes great power but don't last. It still feels great and pulls to 6K no sweat. It likes shifting better at around 5500 though.

This is the map Joe made when he tuned it with a PC III and a Dynojet dyno. The next post is the first tune Bean at Big Boyz did with a Factory Pro Dyno and a Combustion Gas Analyzer with a SERT. He tunes to combustion efficiency, not AFR like Dynojet does. I tend to believe Factory Pro numbers before I believe the numbers from ANY inflated Dynojet dyno numbers. That chart was before he spent more time fine tuning it on another trip up there.

The numbers mean NOTHING to me as they can be manipulated to be used as a sales tool. But the shape of the curve is more what I care about. And my butt dyno tells me how it feels. The bike runs flawlessly now throughout the entire range. And I'm happy with the way it feels and runs. That's all I really care about. And I just got 44 MPG on the way home yesterday doing 800 80 all the way! :2vrolijk_21:

And Bean's tune with a SERT before fine tuning. Don't have that chart and it hasn't been retuned for the 585G and still runs GREAT! :2vrolijk_21: ;)

(the other curve is a stock 110 with breather and pipes)

Looks good
I understand why it works and I would say you have what is the "perfect storm" so to speak. Most will not achieve what you have do to pipes or a tune that doesn't work as well.
Your build leverages exhaust to up the VE. The intake just rides and doesn't offer resistance
Wes's cam shunted the airflow and exagerated this due to very fast ramps. You will see a loss of torque on the dyno when you get it retuned. No biggee though we have to ride these things and compression or cams can't be on the ragged edge or the heads have any screw ball airflow tricks that work in NASCAR qualifing motors like full radius seats or 55° stuff. Cutting edge is very close to bleeding edge and none of the guys I speak to especially the ones that own the 110 bikes want that.

HeHe!!! Thanks Don! Vern pretty much said the same thing to me when I asked him to build me a motor and use the 625G with higher CR. He told me to let him do it his way. Except he said something like "You tellin me how to build this motor now too?!!! You ain't gettin that racing chit again if you expect me to build you a motor that's gonna hold together the way you beat on that thing all over the f$%*ing country!" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not sure if those Metzlers are rated for that.
