Thanks for trying Don.

Steve

No luck on the used bars Steve.  Called the guy this morning and he said they had "become art."  Don't know for sure what that means but he did say they can't go back on a bike ever again.

Well for better or worse, once I get something in my head it is hard to change my mind.
It was something I wanted to see happen.

I want to do the four corners tour some day. (The most extreme points in each of these states Maine, Washington, California, Florida in 21 days)
This was a good step in that direction.

Steve

Wow :2vrolijk_21:  That is hardcore.  I'd like to think I'm pretty tough but I dont believe I could have done it.

At 950 you just have to go for the 1K.....
I was joking in MV if I am very close I will keep circling the block until I get it once I get back.
I didn't have to do that but I would have made sure I was not short.

Glad you made it home safely and in one hard day. Congratulations on the Iron Butt. Now go get a massage to relieve the neck and shoulder tension. It is amazing how much better you will feel. Enjoyed seeing you in MV.

It wasn't a definate plan, but I had given it some thought before hand.  I had allowed 2 days to get home, but was still going to need to get at least 700 the 1st day to be home on time on the 2nd.  By leaving as early as I did, there was no reason to stop at 700.
Once I got to 800, the 1000 was kinda in my sights so I went for it.

Did you register it w/ the Iron Butt Association (http://www.ironbutt.com/about/default.cfm)? They give you a nice certificate etc. I did 1735 km (1085mi) in just under 16 hrs this summer.
