SERG Front Rotor Issues
« on: October 01, 2009, 09:33:16 PM »

I have an appointment to replace the front rotors at 8.5K. They started warping at 3.5K and have been worsening. Front chatter at breaking has been bad for some time now. Any one else with this happening. I'm hoping the new ones last. :drink:

Make sure they have plenty of Run-Out  before you take it in, My ultra had 0.005 and it think the spec is 0.008... They wouldn't warranty them , not enough run out.. The cure for that is some very aggressive stopping safely several times in a row , get 'em good and hot... then hit 'em with the hose....  Getting ready to do that to the Ultra before I take it in for the ABS upgrade...

Youze might have great calipers in the Brembo ABS jobs, but they're KILLING them V-Rod style rotors!!! Doesn't happen to em with standard brakes. Neither the stock 4-piston HD bricks or my 6-piston DB PM's have caused issues with these! Sounds like HD needs to redesign rotors for use with these Brembos! ;)

just had mine a few weeks and that was the first thing i noticed...  it feels like the pads are "glazed" up.  i notice they smooth out after a few secs of heat into them though... but something is not right. my 08RG with ABS was VERY smooth.

I've had the rotors replaced on my 08 SERK twice within 15000 miles. The first time the dealer agreed to change them. The second time they were asked by warranty to check the wheel itself for runout. It was at .6000 and the max should be .3000. Basically a wobble in the wheel was warping the rotors. So they replaced the wheel, rotors and the tire. The tire had it's own issue, replaced twice due to a strange wear pattern where the middle developed about a 1" wide ridge in the center. We put the new 408 dunlop that comes on the 2010 cvo street glide on. So far everything seems great, we'll see in a few more months.
