Looking for front fender ideas - where to get
« on: October 02, 2009, 11:03:08 PM »

My front fender has two big divots in it. Been looking for a "trimmer" fender for some time, haven't found anything that strikes my fancy yet.

Ideally I like the "revitless" Fat bagger style. I would also like it lowered and maybe just a slight arc on the the forward "flat side".

Similar to the look below. The arc I am looking for is the yellow line.

you can get smooth fenders from klockwerks -- www.kustombaggers.com/products/?id=15

or

fbi -- http://store.fatbaggers.com/curefrfe16or.html

or

native custom -- www.nativecustombaggers.com/products.php

ebay has lowered fenders but they're not smooth and will still need more bodywork...

to get the curve you're looking for, you'll probably need to have a bodyman or yourself mod the fender. i haven't seen any around w/ the curve you'd like.

great idea tho. this would put a new spin on a lowered fender.  :2vrolijk_21:

You think the '07 SERK fender will work on yours? It's shaped like you describe Duane! ;)

Two things I have considered doing.
Take a stock front fender move and smooth the mounting flange. you can create the ark you want with some careful cuting and grinding.

The Victory fenders have a old school looking flare on the back that I think would look good on a Harley. The shape is similar to some of the old Indian fenders. If I am thinking correctly I believe it's the one off of the Kingpin.

How about a Fat Boy fender painted to match?  If I had to replace mine, I really think that would be the way I'd go.  Never have liked the oversized fender look of the FLHT's, always looks like it was made for a much larger tire.

This one?

I like the way it looks, but I think it is too "light" for the bigger wheel tire combo

Jerry, here in New Jersey the oversize fender helps keep damage down, not quite as bad as the PA areas that are still "oiling & chipping" the roads, but still bad. And I have on occasion, not turned around just because the pavement ended  :nixweiss:

The Fatboy fender has been given consideration though.

This is an RWD fender; lowers the fender (though I haven't measured it versus OEM) and is rivetless:

IIRC, it was $230 from Eastern Performance Cycles when I bought it several months ago.

A better option for what you want may be the the front fender used on the FLHXSE, though you'd need to remove the rivets and weld the brackets, or replace them with lowering brackets.

There have been kits made to weld fender to new brackets that take the place of the riveted ones. Wouldn't use your original CVO fender, maybe pick one up on ebay. I have a friend making me some brackets this fall, start looking for a fender soon.

Talon - even with the new chips on my fender I don't plan on changing, will just find an aftermarket and have it repainted.

Steel.  Good product; minimal prep for paint.

Good luck with your project.
